The name says it all
I've owned several PUR faucet filters over the past 10 years. I recently moved from a house with well water that was the best tasting I've ever had, so didn't need the filter. My current place is on town water which is highly treated and chlorinated. I drink about 2 gallons of water every day and crave a very clean, neutral taste. This delivers perfectly. I like the ability to switch the water stream from unfiltered to filters with the flick of the lever and the filtered stream is still strong enough fill a quart pitcher in under 30 secs. The caveat is my house has extremely strong water pressure, so you may not get the same flow rate. Nevertheless, the water tastes fantastic. It takes about 2 minutes to install and about 5 minutes to change the filter. I love the visual indicator that tells you when you need a filter change. Mine have lasted the full 3 months that they say is the norm. PUR brand filters are expensive, but of course, Amazon sells generic. I'm really only concerned about taste, not safety, so ok with generics.

Works great
This works great. It did start to leak after about two years. I think it is my super hard waterI tried to fix it but got a new one and worked perfect again. For the price, it can't be beat. Water tastes so much better when I use it

Our Experience with Pur Vs Brita
The media could not be loaded. We've been using Brita Pitcher water based filters since forever up until earlier this year when we switched to the Pur Faucet based water filters mainly because the plastic pitchers with Brita would scratch and show signs of wear which look ugly on the dinner table & also they were too slow to fill if you wanted to have water right away. Overall based on our experience in the past couple of months we are satisfied with the Pur Water filtration systems barring a few minor gripes.Uboxing & Installation------------------------------ Check out my video for the unboxing , initial impressions & installationBuild Quality & Using It----------------------------------- Despite is shiny chrome appearance , the Filter body is made of plastic which means that we are a bit extra careful around it while doing the dishes as it dosent seem like it would be able to withstand a hard knock- Using the filter and switching between unfiltered tap water (for washing etc) and filtered water is very simple with a small plastic lever on the right side.- The plastic lever feels precariously fragile when its on the 'On' filtered water position, so once again we are extra careful while filling our water pitchers- There is also a small LED indicator on the front which tells you when you need to change the filter ( the manual says every 3 months)- Comes with 4 different adapters to fit your faucet - only one of them (the Type-A) adapter is made of metal and the rest are plastic. Luckily the type A adapter should work with most standard faucets and worked for usWater Taste & Comparison with Brita------------------------------------------------There are a couple of major differences when it comes to the water taste and quality between the two , mainly because :- The Brita water filtration system is gravity fed which makes is slower but allows water to interact with the filter for a longer period of time . Whereas the PUR water filter is pressure fed making is fast and gives water less time to interact with the filter- The Brita filter cartridges are longer than the PUR cartridges increasing the time and surface area the water interacts with the filter materialsAs a result in my opinion, the water tastes slightly better and sweeter from the Brita Filters when compared against PUR. Now water from PUR filters itself is definitely noticeably better than plain tap water so it does its job well & its overall performance combined with the super fast filtered water flow is nothing to sneeze atThe Good--------------- Super fast filtered water when compared to gravity fed filters- Water tastes much better than plain tap water alone- Easy operation and switching between plain tap water and filtered water- Looks attractive in the kitchen- Based on the design and layout you choose, it really does not get too much in the way while doing the dishesThe Not So Good--------------------- There is no second opinion about it , it does not to seem like its built to last with its plastic construction and looks fragile. We are extra cautious when using it and doing the dishes. The lever switch mechanism appears the be the most fragile as its plastic and hinged right at the corner- Running hot water through the filter kills it- Doesn't compare that well when compared to gravity fed filtration systems (Brita)Important Consideration Before Purchasing------------------------------------------------------Please make sure that your kitchen faucet has a removable screw-on type aerator. This filter will not work with non-removable aerator type faucetsFinal Thoughts-------------------Overall the PUR water filtration is pretty good for what it offers at its price point with the biggest advantage that we see is the fast on demand filtered water output with reasonably good taste. I just wish it was built better to last.

A Kitchen Necessity.
I should have ordered sooner! This durability is 10 of 10. The value is worthy, the taste of water is refreshing. The filter lasts for around 45 days in my home, easy to use and pop off if needed. A true product I highly recommend.

Apartment friendly
My husband and I live in an apartment and find that this was an easy install that can easily be undone when we leave. Replacement filters are easy to change and the water we get taste and looks better than what we received without it.

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT
I live in a small town in which the water is extremely bad and if not dangerous. More specifically, our water containersspores for a pathogen called Cryptosporidium. My first 3 month here were a nightmare as all of us were sick from thewater including my two young dogs.I have professional training in water quality and did everything I could think of to abate the problem to no avail. Fortunatelya relative from California (who also had gotten ill from the water) resolved the problem by bringing and installing a 3 stagePur water filter unit, which is certified to filter out this water born pathogen. This was in 2008 and despite even a plumberbeing able to prevent a faucet leak from the Pur assembly, I gladly lived with a leaky faucet(which had to be replaced a yearlatter primarily due to weight of the unit.I was not delighted with the older (2004 design I believe) but it did get rid of the cypto spores and life w/o chronic intestinalflu like symptom went on...I religiously changed filters every month for almost three years. I had to buy three of the units,as practically after a year, the filter unit developed massive leaks making proper filtering impossible. The price of replacingthem yearly was still acceptable....Right before Thanksgiving, my last replacement died....I could not find any of the older models in the local stores and thought the picture of this unit looked like my old one. As I was having company for Thanksgiving, I ordered it immediately and paid a stiff premium to get 2 day delivery. When it arrived (along with company) I opened the box to discover the enclosed piece of junk with easy installation notrequiring tools. Actually installation was very simple but PUR made this unit I guess because it wanted to go bankrupt. The older unit I had used religiously had a substantial threaded connector which attached to the faucet...it leaked but itstayed in place and did its job (for one year). This particular model comes with 4 plastic adapters which have 2 or 3 threadswhich you manually tighten to the bottom of your faucet. I did not want to install it but did not want to make my guestssick either, so I tried to use it and it lasted less than 2 weeks before springing a substantial leak which I could live with...However the PUR engineer who designed this piece of rubbish really did a job on this unit. About a half hour after aleak develop the entire 'mickey mouse' unit just collapsed into the sink. I spent over four hours trying to re-install withoutsuccess and then contacted Amazon.com for a return.Realistically this properly installed unit was treated very gently and ONLY by me....lasted about two and half weeks. This design is insane. This newer unit not only weighs more than the older unit but its connection to your faucet is maintainedsolely by two or three threads on a plastic adapter which perhaps could hold the weight of unit without the cartridge PERHAPS but tend to doubt this and have no intent in experimenting. Fortunately because water quality is a seriousissue for me, I had purchased a GE water filter unit as a backup. Not only is the design of the adapter crazy but when you turn on the black back unit to filter your water, it pivots theentire filtration system to a jerk and tilts it forward. This last stunt convinces me the design of the this model was notmade for home use but for early - very early disposable of the unit.I also went out today and looked the newer Pur water filtration systems available and all of them have this easy installprocedure and 'one click removal.' After my this experience, Pur could not get me to install their newer units usingthis design for a million dollars. As a former published toxicologist, I acknowledge that the separate Pur filter used in the system is of excellent qualitityand never received a bad filter....But a water filtration system needs more than an adequate filter but a way of reasonablyattaching it to your faucet which is stable....This one is not.I am not a plumber....but did have a plumber install one of the older models(which worked but leaked at junction withfaucet). I literally had to coerce my plumber to install the older unit which has now been discontinued and replacedwith their ostensibly 'easy install - no tools units.'I strongly caution buyers not to rely on the nonsense Pur had gotten itself into. You may be able to install it and have itwork fine for a day, week or couple of weeks but if the unit is like mine, you will sincerely regret purchasing their newermodels featuring 'easy install' features.I have never commented or written a review of any product on amazon.com. But my horrible experience warranted meto share my views with other consumers. Before doing this I emailed PUR and pretty stated the above to them and informedthem I would not post a review if I heard back from them(thinking perhaps the unit I had gotten might have beendefective). Pur is yet to respond and I doubt will.As stated above the PUR FILTER unit (cartridge) is of excellent quality and is the only one certified to remove pathogenicspores from water. They deserve credit for the filter design but changing the design of the unit and going for a aneasy install products is I believe a market manipulation PUR will regret....The older unit leaked but nothing for thisprice range is perfect but did work for a whole year(terms of warranty). If you do experience the same problems I did - please do not Ignore - return unit - contact PUR by email. The quality ofwater nationwide is pretty rotten and in small towns like mine actually dangerous. Considering all factors, I do notsee that the situation will improve. PUR needs to re-engineer its faucet attachments and stop ripping off consumers.I VERY STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT BUY ANY PUR PRODUCT WHICH TOUTS AN EASY INSTALL(TOOLS FREE) SETUP asstrongly believe you have the same problem I did.is simply not apropos for most kitchen faucets and anything
