great and easy to use
great and easy to use. very nice images. especially the spark in the eyes. small piece of equipment to carry; considering the alternatives.before folding it for the first time, watch a movie on line for instructions.

Its ok but a bit expensive for what it is.
Its ok. I wouldnt say its the best thing ever, but it is a nice touch to additional lighting sources, or maybe even in conjunction with natural lighting situations. magnets are a pain to stay together...possibly could be better if it had screws instead. I basically had to boost my speed light by 2 stops to compensate on the diffusion, unless i utilized other light sources and key lights and it works great. 110 dollars is a bit steep for what it is...50 to 60 would be more ideal considering what it is. Granted other ring lights cost 300 dollars starting, but they are an actual light source and not just a diffuser. Also my SB910 is almost too big to fit snug..as it might be a bit too long, but it fits and works.Jesse Martinez

??? What happened to the quality of this thing?
I bought this item five years ago and LOVED IT. Then I bought it again two weeks ago to replace it. The difference in quality is astounding. The previous model had magnetic bits connecting the structural poles together whereas now they are flimsy plastic rods stringed together with rope that fall out of place with a slight shake. Previous model had better, stiffer, quality-feeling material and more reflective interior that disperses the flash more effectively, along with better seams and stitching. Also the velcro strap i got was defective - it was too short! It needed like 6 more inches of length! what happened???

Liking it so far for up close headshots.
I purchased this RingFlash to have in my kit for portraits, mainly headshots. I've used it sparingly, but I really like a couple of the headshots I've achieved so far. Definitely takes some practice shoots to learn how this works with your flash. Have to tinker with your flash Exp compensation (or flash power) to get to the right level of softness you desire. But after you find your sweetspot, I think you are good to go. I found that I have to get fairly close to the subject in order to achieve the look that I want. Backed up further away from the subject and it works just like a regular softbox to me - nothing special. But if you are looking for a nice, different look up close, you should try this. I've attached a sample headshot. Keep in mind that it's somewhat difficult to adjust the lens zoom ring when this is mounted. Folds away easily and stores nicely in the bag. Others have mentioned difficulty folding it down, but I have no problems at all.

Awesome tool for the kit!
This thing is awkward and bulky but I LOVE it. You can get such cool headshots with it. Makes such a unique look, and it's pretty easy to carry around and just play with. And inexpensive! Yeah, it's hard to adjust your zoom. Yeah, it's gigantic and looks silly. Whatever. You shoot with this thing, people will know you're getting interesting lighting, and when you show them the preview screen on the back of your camera, they'll say "Wow that's cool!"

Easy to use, but "clunky."
Goes over my camera lens OK, but not elegantly. Works OK, but is bulky and not really my thing.

Great light from this device, but it's very bulky and not easy to put on.
Great lighting effect. Really cool construction and great quality. That being said, it's very cumbersome and bulky when mounted on the camera. And it's not that easy to get on the camera either. You'll also need a long lens or you'll get some serious vignetting. If you use it with mid range zoom or an 85mm or above prime then it works well. But again, very big and bulky.
