Yes, the product is designed to do this. I have had my external USB-C monitor connected to my HDMI laptop port for the past year. I had to buy this because my laptop USB-C port does not support USB-C monitors. My laptop is from 2018, and apparently, USB-C laptop ports this old can't handle a USB-C external monitor. Anyway, it works fine. SIIG is a reliable vendor, and the price is less than what I paid last year.

Does this work with the Switch? Doesn't work with mine.
