Alice’s Adventures in a differentiable wonderland: A primer on designing neural networks (Volume I) Paperback – 16 July 2024

This book was recommended to me by someone who used to work with the author. It is an excellent primer on LLMs, the author does a great job exposing ideas and themes. The writing style is clear, the diagrams are colourful and well drawn and described. There are exercises that leverage popular ML frameworks (pytorch, NumPy, JAX). There 11 pages of references to the underlying academic papers if you want to dig deeper.There is a pdf version of this book available and after reviewing that I decided to buy the book to support this work. It clearly takes a lot of effort to produce a book like this. The print quality of my copy is very good.The only thing the book lacks is an index, but this is a small ask in an otherwise great primer.
