Great new universe
If you love transformers and want more media outside of the shows or movies, this is a great new story to start. G1 reinterpretation with lots of great character moments. Not just a kiddy affair, characters actions have consequences here.

Excellent Retelling!
This reset gives a very 80s feel. It takes me back to the original cartoon in someways but kind of gives it an adult vibe. You can definitely tell the writers are taking into account than a lot of the readers of this book grew up watching the original TV show. Almost feels like a love letter to those of us from that generation. This is a high recommend to Transformers fans and comic book fans alike.

Interesting so far
Unpopular opinion, I’m a big fan of the first 12+ years of IDW books. It definitely fell off towards the end but still enjoyed. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this new Energon series. It has been a good read although it has been slow. I’m invested so far and preordered the next series. I hope it turns out to be just as fun as IDW

Fantastically violent, yet engaging storyline!
I’ve recently gotten back into Transformers after over a decade and wanted to dive into the comics. After hearing much praise of this story, I wanted to check it out. The end result: HOLY CRAP! This story is incredible and very engaging so far. This volume packs so much of a punch that I was entirely expecting. The brutality is insane where I felt so many emotions while reading it through. Sadness, heartbreak, anger, anguish all wrapped into one. The art truly shines and comes to life through every page. This volume has already highlighted why Optimus Prime has always been one of my favorite characters. So much respect, compassion, nobleness. So many layers and good ideologies presented through this volume alone. The Decepticons are a force to be reckoned with - Starscream being new leader after the fall of Megatron and decides to go on a killing spree. Just crazy, R rated material and it works very well.I will definitely continue reading this storyline! As a renewed Transformers fan, this is a hard recommendation! Certainly has lived up to the hype.

More Than Meets the Eye
While I myself have yet to read the IDW run of Transformers comics, the concept of a more serious take on this franchise is not new to me, or TF fans as we've had some many different takes over the years. This comic begins almost identically to the original pilot episodes of the 80s show, but immediately, two things become very clear. This WILL be an original story, and it WILL engage with the reader on an unexpectedly emotional level. The changes to the story are all done with a PURPOSE beyond merely surface level, I'm pretty certain there isn't a change that doesn't have a significant impact on the story or characters. The characters truly shine here. The Autobots feel truly heroic, the Decepticons are truly malicious, and the humans are truly vulnerable. Whether the character is made of metal or flesh, they all feel absolutely human on an emotional level. This comic has the touch, nuff said.

This book made me a Transformers fan
I'd always been what you'd call a casual fan of the Transformers (played War for Cybertron a lot as a kid, had seen a little of a few of the cartoons and the [really bad] Michael Bay movies) but this comic solidified the franchise as one worth my time. At a glance it seems like a reboot of the original cartoon's set-up but it quickly goes in its own direction with it. Amazing art and clever writing attach you to the characters even if they don't have much time on the page, and human character Sparky's pivotal action near the end of this volume (#6 in individual comic issues) is a scene that will stay with you.10/10 (Evil Arm Theory For Life)
