The best solid air freshener out there!
I've been using this product for years and I'm really glad to be able to find it on Amazon now. I keep it in the area where my cat litter box is and it works miracles! I can definitely tell when it is running out, but it's not like there is a strong scent when it is working either, It just smells good in there :) It is a little pricey, comparatively, but it lasts a very long time.

Great Product
I have been using Tea Tree Oil for years, mostly in my RV and boat. It keeps odors to a minimum as I have several dogs who travel with us. It helps keep mildew and odor in check in the boat too. I recently started using it at home in various rooms where the dogs sleep and it’s noticeable better. No need to check the amount left as the odors will start to return when the supply runs low.The smell is fairly strong when you first open the jar but dissipates quickly. I have been using two different brands and this one comes in a larger container and a lower per ounce price that the other brand with the same results.

Excellent for odor control, skeptical of other claims....
We learned the hard way that the standard crawlspace ventilation design is inadequate at best, and disastrous at worst in areas of high humidity. The problem slowly crept up on us..first, musty odor in the kitchen cabinets, then mold/mildew on some stored fabrics in the closets, and finally...to my horror, mold/mildew growing on furniture and walls in one bedroom of the house. Cleaning with bleach has been to no avail as the mold/mildew and musty odor keep returning because of the high humidity. After exploring all options (HVAC adjustment, etc.), we're now schedule to have our crawlspace encapsulated. In the meantime, Safety T Air has our saving grace as it is the only product that has effectively eliminated the musty odor and made our house livable. Yes, the product smell is quite strong, especially when you first open it, but it lessens a bit after a couple of days. My only complaint is that you have to leave the jar completely open and the consistency of the product is rather soup-like. Not only is this a spill hazard, the user has no way of controlling the level of scent. I'm fine with the strong scent, but others have found it to be overwhelming. I think the product could be improved if they designed a top with adjustable openings, similar to some other fragrance products.Furthermore, my personal experience does not support the claim that it "controls mold" growth. I had the jar sitting on a antique sewing machine, which I had cleaned with a mold inhibiting solution. The mold returned within inches of the jar. Perhaps Safe T Air can control mold, bacteria and fungi when the active ingredient (tea tree oil) is present in high concentrations relative to the environment. I'm just not sure that can be achieved outside a laboratory setting. I would be interested to see the data the manufacturer uses to assert this claim.I still highly recommend this product for control of unpleasant odors, but for only that purpose.

Effective Against Mildew and Mold
I live on the beach where mildew is a fact of life. That said, we had a leaking pipe in the back wall of an overpacked closet and the mold problem was out of control. T Air was the only product that helped with the odor and seemed to keep the mildew at bay--all with a natural tea tree scent. When we finally pulled out the dry wall, I was able to keep the room tolerable with T Air until the job was complete. Now I keep it in the closet to control normal mildew. As they say, "Life's a beach!" But T Air allows us to live with some of the down sides of ocean living. Great product, worth every dollar.

IT DOES WORK, BUT THERE ARE CONSISTANCY ISSUES:
I live aboard my 35' sailboat year-round, last year I started using SafeTair with very good results, I was using one 14oz jar in the central cabin. This year I have two jars, one in the forward cabin, and central, and I have practically no mildew. That's the good news. (and for the record I have the jars placed in non-draft areas, excessive air movement is not an issue)Last year I would have given this 5 stars, this year I would say 5 stars for effectiveness, but 2 stars for consistancy, I'll average it to 3 stars. The BAD news is the product is described as a "gel", the last container I received on Jan 8 was more like a "soup", and is evaporating at a much faster rate...much faster then the previous jars that did contain "gel" consistancy.EITHER this is a quality control issue at the factory, or it is an intended change in the product formula to shorten the useful life. Unfortunately when you go to the site, "safetair.com", it's just about as unhelpful and seemingly untended as a site can be, the listed email address bounces back as "failure". I have asked a question on their site - specific email query form, but I had done that months ago and never got a reply.I also cannot find a "contact seller" link on Amazon for them through Amazon to make an official query.SO my advice to people buying this through Amazon Prime is to look at the jar contents immediately on receipt and determine if it's "soupy" or "gel" - like, and the gel will act kind of like Jello Pudding, a bit more fluidity, but not runny. It will hold texture lumpiness on the surface as a gel, as a soup it will level off immediately and you could actually "pour" it out.RETURN the soupy Safetair and re-order until you get the "gel" thick version. This is not a "gel" and is therfore "not as described".Try it for a week or two, if it is drying out quickly, if in 2 weeks it is about half gone, return it. This just is not worth it if cannot last at least 3 months at the minimum.MAYBE if enough people return the defective consistancy it will get the message through. This product does work, but it can either last one month (soup) or several months (gel), and I had my first one last almost 5 months... THAT is a better deal.I'll update this if my next order is back to the "gel" type.UPDATE*****I got my recent order a couple of days ago, the consistancy is back to the "gel", not soupy. this is a good sign, hopefully the runny consistancy, fast evaporating jars were a short term issue. I'd be happy to try Kanberra if the cost were somewhat close, but it seems really expensive compared to this. Again, if the jar lasts 3-4 months, I'm OK.BUT....IF YOU GET A SOUPY JAR, LIKE YOU COULD "POUR" IT OUT, DON'T KEEP IT, SEND IT BACK!
