Hello Chuckster,Thank you for asking that question. Since this is a self-fusing tape, we would recommend wrapping it on something wherein it can apply pressure to itself. You can, however, lay it on top of each other so that it would have a greater traction. Also, for your specific application, you may want to try out our Aluminum Tape. Q: Will the tape adhere to pvc vinyl, example above-ground swimming pool?

Hello Molly,The XFasten Silicone Tape is a SELF-FUSING tape, which means that it only fuses with itself. Therefore, it should work fine if you adhere it to itself on a PVC vinyl. However, if you wish to adhere it on a flat surface where it can't fuse to itself by wrapping the whole device, then we would recommend our HVAC tape. It will stick to PVC Vinyl as well and it has good insulation and high-pressure resistance properties, so it should be ideal for an above-ground swimming pool. Q: how does it compare with rescue tape brand?

If rescue is what I've used previously, (sold at HD) then the only diff is is the stretch. This tape stretches 100% vs Rescue 300%. The 100 is enough and doesn't thin out as much.

Q: Can I use this on an outdoor water pipe?

Perfect for a leaking 15mm copper joint as a sealant. Just sealed it temporarily before doing a permanent fix with a new compression elbow.

Quite good, but not entirely self-bonding.

For it to work it has to be stretched so that it clings to itself. (If you don't do that it won't: which is probably the reason why several reviewers -- who obviously haven't read the instructions! -- say it's useless.)It isn't. That said, the end can lift slightly. So be aware!

Tape is not adhesive

Bought this to seal a shower door and completed useless. Only seals to itself and not to anything else. Waste of £15!!

Need to fully wrap

As this tape is not self adhesive it needs to be fully wrapped around the item to be repaired as I could not get all the way around my car hose I could not use it, may be useful for another leak

Sorted the leak under our sink no probs. You have to stretch it a lot so we cut shorter pieces and built them up to give full coverage. Loads cheaper than a plumber and still got most of the roll left!
