Perfect product, Feels like a new level once you try it
Awesome layering, perfect with Polychromos and Luminance. It is hard for me to work on watercolour paper after using Pastelmat.Be careful if you try it with FC Durer, the capillarity can easily extend colour beyond your initial plans. No flaws, just a bit expensive.

Nice paper, terrible packaging.
So sick of buying paper off Amazon and it turning up damaged. Sent in a paper envelope rather than a box. Didn’t get a chance to use this pad as it was bashed in the corner and the plastic film cover was torn.

Excellent results need much careful effort.
As an amateur it’s taken me much trial and error to achieve the realistic results I wanted. Brilliant product but 4 stars because it’s very expensive and it might help if it came with a little booklet, say, with suggestions for how different media should be applied in order to achieve best results. Different coloured papers and varying levels of tooth excitingly offer all sorts of possibilities for various media - but in my opinion unless you are a professional, maybe it’s going to cost you more money than it’s worth with failed projects resulting from inappropriate application. However, after much trial and error, I now think it’s a wonderful product (I prefer coloured pencils to pastels and Caran Dache Luminance are brilliant being almost like a pastel coloured pencil giving quick good results) but I got through a whole expensive pad working it all out! However, still can’t get decent results with soft pastels. Don’t use Sennelier pencil blender - it doesn’t dry - even with hairdryer etc - ruins it. Bottom line - some stuff works brilliantly, other stuff is ruinous. Need a cheap small pad to trial stuff beforehand, otherwise not for the cost conscious hobbyist.

A great affordable surface for pastel work.
Love this paper. I had been using a smaller pad in assorted colours, and actually ordered this larger, all white one by accident. However, i have decided that i do like it after all. Depends on what you're drawing.... If i was using a lot of white, i'd prefer a coloured pad. The surface is fantastic for pastel use. I use both soft pastels and pastel pencils. I have no problem blending with fingers, there is no abrasion to the skin at all and dust isn't particularly a problem compared to pastel paper. If in doubt i'd recommend trying it, you may be pleasantly surprised at just how good this surface is.

My Favourite Pastel Paper
I absolutely love pastelmat. I am a primarily a pet portrait artist but I also paint wildlife and I like to achieve a realistic portrayal.I started painting with pastels on standard pastel papers but found that I was quite limited on how many layers could be applied before the tooth of the paper was full.I then came across pastelmat and thought I would give it a try. It took a bit of getting used to as it was so different than anything else I had used. Blending is easy after the first layer. The first layer can be blended in but it is harder work than the subsequent layers but once done it's easy. Adding fine detail too is a dream, especially when using pastel pencils. Erasing is not too difficult, but if the pastel has been blended in I found the best way was to loosen the area first with a brush. Some pigment may be left although this isn't a problem as new layers can be painted on the top.The best thing about pastelmat is that there is very little dust produced and a spray fixative is not necessary at all.I haven't tried it yet, but you can also block in with water, alcohol or turps. Also I wanted to clean a small piece that I used for experimenting, instead of using a new piece. So I ran it under the tap, scrubbed it with washing up liquid, rinsed off and let it dry. Perfect.

Good quality but expensive stuff
Looks a good quality pad, I’m a bit annoyed that’s it’s curled though I would have expected it to be flat but I’m assuming it’s been kept in the cold and coming into the heat has done this. Hopefully it will flatten out

Carta unica!
Ottima resa, carta davvero speciale!

Awesome Paper
Awesome paper for colour pencil and pastel. I'm a new artist and wanted a paper that had more tooth. This paper is excellent for multiple layering. I do feel there is a learning curve when it comes to fine detail. I've heard other artist talk about doing larger pieces when using this paper. Not a problem because that's all I do. This picture was just a small practice test piece. I also wanted paper that I could use pan pastels on to create background. I'm waiting for my pan pastels so I wasn't able to test it. I did test it with soft pastels and it held the pastel well and blended beautifully. You can also erase with a needed eraser but I found my initial graphite lines did not come out at all. You can see them in the picture on either side of the muscle. This is what I mean about a learning curve. In the future I'll use a pastel pencil or a light colerase pencil. In the end this paper is a good deal. It averaged $3 a sheet. That's cheaper than a canvas. It's best not to compare it to other papers. I use these to do commissions which easily covers the cost.

Ottima
Fantastica e consigliata.
