BREATHTAKINGLY STUNNING!!!
I've been a dog lover all my life and have many dog books, of all varieties, but this has to rank as the most beautiful dog book I own.As the book is expensive and doesn't have the "look inside option" I did rely to some extent on the other reviews, although the picture on the front dust cover is a work of art in itself.I wasn't disappointed when it arrived I read it from cover to cover, text provided by Lewis Blackwell. This was interesting not too in depth and I think he's more a businessman than a doggy person so I've enjoyed it for what it is, a product of quality and sheer beauty. There are countless other books out there, written by experienced breeders, judges etcetera for specific breed or dog information, for me this is all about the pictures.I'd highly recommend to dog and art lovers alike, it's truly unique. The book is large and from the moment you open it up it's truly stunning, the first two pages show just the fur back of a Rhodesian ridgeback, featuring the "ridge", the last two pages again show just the dogs back, the glorious wrinkles of the Shar-pei. Stunning two page shots of Afghan hound, frenchie, poodles back, Dalmatian pups, great danes, black fur, close up head and also a noise shot, beautiful eyes, dog shaking off water, extreme grooming, the stunning pug with the appearance of blue eyes mentioned by a previous reviewer along with the rare and extremely expensive Tibetan mastiff all breath taking. It lives in my main bookcase in our lounge and comes out often. It is a work of art and I love it! Tim Flach's Equus (horses) is now on my wish list.

Disappointed
Not what I was expecting. As one reviewer put it, it doesn’t make you smile. Very stylised pictures championing the breeds. Too many close ups. Boring to look through. I bought this for my mother who has dementia, she had dogs for 50 years. She won’t get much pleasure from this.

The high fashion of dogs
Stunning high quality editorial photos of dogs covering an expansive range of breeds. Not only is this stunning to look at, each photo shoot is accompanied with very interesting background and information for each breed (I was harrowed to read practically every breed is fraught with their own respective health problems, but that is beside the point). Staple coffee table book for lovers of dogs and aesthetics.

Amazing phtography
This is a beautiful book, the photography is outstanding. I have a copy of the book and bought it as a thank you to a dog lover friend who was entranced by the photos. If you love dogs and would like to see unusual and very clever photographs I would recommend this book. As a dog lover and amateur photographer myself I know how difficult it is to get dogs to "pose" !I highly recommend this book to dog lovers and/or photographers.

Another cracker from the very modest Mr Flach!
This is great fun and joins his 'Equus' in my library. He is a sublime equine photographer; up there with greats Diana Vowles and Susan Friedman - but his canine photography is really something special... and unique!

A beautiful book
If you love dogs, if you love photography, if you love books, then this is a must. I bought this book for a birthday present for a friend. It was a close run thing as to wether or not she actually got it or I kept it. It was very tempting. If you are thinking of getting this book then do not hesitate as you will not be dissapointed.
