Advice for beginners (like me)
Great blade.Rounded ends so more forgiving. This blade is carbon steel thus much easier to sharpen, unlike the steel blades. However the steel blades don't tend to rust like the carbon steel. You need to keep this blade dry at all times (after shave) or it becomes pitied (like mine has within the first month, but only because I did not make any effort to keep the blade dry!) The handle is plastic like most Cut Throat Razors. The blade is 3" long however most Leather Strops are only 2"wide. This is normal and you have to sharpen the blade with an X motion, going up and down about around 50 times on the leather bit, 25 times on the suede side and 10 on the cotton. This sounds a lot but will get it done in about a minute with practice. Depending on hair growth you will need to sharpen about once a week?month? Most Leather Strops come with two sides but three is better. Honing balm paste is used on the Leather Strop to stop it drying out. Look on YouTube for tuitions on how to sharpen blades. The first shave.Great. Missed a lot so ended up have two shaves in succession. Very pleased and I think I am a natural using it. To go with the new blade I splashed out on some posh shaving cream and a brush too. But then, HELL did I have a shaving rash. Horrible shaving rash like I have never had before. All day after the shave I just wanted to scratch my face off! When it calmed down I had another shave. But then a horrible shaving rash again! This carried on for about a week by which time I was well hacked off ( and you have to be careful because if you continue shaving over/on the shaving rash you could end up with a load of creators all over your face!) So I went back to my old razor for a bit so that things could calm down. I then introduced things back in slowly. Old cream, new blade. One shave every other day not every day, one stroke at a time, not two or three. Now some four/five weeks after first getting the blade I am shaving every day (just) still with the old cream, but no rash.My opinionGreat blade. Well pleased I got it. No more keeping on buying razor blades that just go blunt. Now the opposite is true and this Dovo straight razor is very sharp! You need to get used to it, how to sharpen the blade and that, and it shaves Sooo close... The upshot is that this blade suffers no fools!

Nice First Razor
I was a little nervous due to the price, first straight razor I have purchased below £200. Pleasantly surprised, it is nearly shave ready, I had to strop it more than usual but the shave was acceptable. Some have commented on the scales, personally they seemed fine to me. All in all, a nice first razor, and at a price that makes trying a straight razor less of a financial investment, but trust me it is worth the effort and investment.

Razor sharp (pun intended)
Arrived sharp and ready to use unlike other straight razors which have arrived blunt/needed to be sharpened before use. Handle snapped after a while though which is unfortunate. Only made out of cheap plastic which over all let's the quality of the razor down.

Great starter blade on a budget.
A great starter razor. I used a stainless steel razor a few years ago but it got stolen from a hotel room. Bought this as I wanted to return to straight shaving but count afford a stainless steel one.I did need to finish the cut with strop paste but that is true with most razors.I have a very corse beard and this gives a lovely clean shave.Very easy to strop. You do need to be very careful after use to ensure it is completely dry as any water will rust the blade. DO NOT KEEP THIS RAZOR IN THE BATHROOM!

Handle broke
After a few months of really light use the handle disintegrated. Unacceptable for such an expensive product.

Dovo razor
I don't shave with a cut throat often - mainly when I have not shaved for a week and have growth. Very much a novice I find the razor ok and have not done myself any damage. I have a strop and am starting to get the hang of keeping an edge on the blade. From my experiance I would say this is a good razor to start off with. If I had more time in the day I think I would fully convert and sort my shaving skills out. It is a skill and requires time. Good razor.

Not shave ready...
Can't say too much about the razer yet as it is not shave ready as described and does need to be sent off to be honed. It is also much lighter than I expected, but I guess that is because of the full hollow grind taking most of the material from the blade. The scales are nothing to write home about, but they do have a little peg inside them about half way to presumably stop them being squeezed togeather and snapping them at the pin.

Is this a razor or a laser beam?
I have no complaints with this straight razor. Shaving sharp out of the box, after 15- 20 passes on the strop it provided a smooth shave. I’m relatively new to SR shaving but from what I’ve been told Dovo is a go-to in the industry. Highly recommended.
