Years later and still going strong!
I have had this lighter since 2017 and my girlfriend is now my wife. I can’t say the lighter is responsible but it didn’t hurt!Today she asked for another but not because the old one broke but because she likes it so much she wants one for the downstairs. It still looks new and works great. I only need to charge it occasionally and it gets daily use, granted just for incense and candles.Original review:I bought the Saberlight for my girlfriend who loves candles and incense but does not like the butane lighters. The idea of an electric, rechargeable lighter that would eliminate throwing away a chunk of plastic and metal every week or so was certainly appealing so I took the plunge. The Saberlight has a surprising heft to it. It feels high quality and durable. It is easy to use with a sliding mechanism that exposes the lighting prongs when you press down on the button.I was able to easily light candles with the Saberlight and in the cases where the wick was far down inside it was easily and comfortably lit since there was no flame until the wick caught. It works great on my gas grill, gas fireplace and lights incense with no problem. The lighter is recharged via USB which is very convenient. A blue light indicates charging and turns off when the device is fully charged.Pros:- Attractive black and silver look.- Lights without a flame so no more pain when lighting deep set wicks or candles in storm lamps.- Rechargable so no more frequently buying and throwing away disposable lightersCons:- Don’t have any complaints currently but will update if the battery life proves too short or if there are other issues.

Solid, Convenient Product with Vendor Guidelines That Need To Be Followed & Clarified
We charged the saberlight this evening and it performed flawlessly in lighting our candles for a candlelight dinner. The lithium battery charged exactly as conveyed in the directions on the package and it only took 1 hour. The instructions provide a caution on "overcharging" the lighter, so we monitored it closely. When the blue light went out it was charged, allegedly for up to 100 hours. We will see if that is the case. Here are a couple of suggestions for the vendor.1. The directions are almost illegible on the box (black box with white narrow typeface). This needs changing asap. I tried to blowup the directions to see them better but failed on our Xerox. Typesize 10 or 12 point NOT condensed on white paper with black type would be appreciated.2. Lithium-based batteries gained something of a bad reputation from the Samsung phone self-igniting fires. Product information should provide any cautionary info on the use and charging of the lithium battery in the lighter. It made me nervous to charge it in our computer port, not given the lighter, but the reputation of lithium batteries.3. The lighter worked beautifully as asserted in the literature, but we had a question. As we lit each candle, we closed the lighter off as instructed. We understood the lighter was only to be lit for 7 sec for each candle and we dutifully followed this guideline. It would be helpful if the vendor described how one should hold the lighter to light a candle, i.e., right on the wick, above it, next to it? We had to fumble through this in the 7 sec time frame. Our belief is that this will be a high performance product that we come to depend on. However, it is a new concept and the instructions clearly need refinement and better formatting.Happy Consumer with Thoughtful Feedback to the Vendot

Simple, durable, and effective
Charges quickly and has a big enough battery for several days of regular use. This is the first time I've used an electric lighter made in the long "candle lighter" style, and I have to say I much prefer it to the traditional styled lighters that I've tried from brands like Bolt and Tesla. Works super well with hemp wick! The extra length makes a bigger difference than I expected: it's very "accurate" and lights quickly since you know exactly where the electricity will be and because it's easy to hold it steady, whereas with traditional styled lighters- even the ones with two crossed arcs- I've found it necessary to be a little more careful, since the slightest movement can move the electricity away from where you need it.The sliding plastic cover is a great design choice which keeps the prongs protected when not in use, which is some nice peace of mind since I've had lighters stop functioning properly after being dropped one time.

Wonderful product but could be safer
First off, I love this thing. It arrived just in time for the 4th of July. I read all the other reviews before buying one and luckily I didn't get a dud like some unfortunate people below. So far, at least, as it works quite well. I tested it by lighting candles and igniting small scraps of paper and it lit them both quickly and without problem. On to the safety part. The packaging itself is sturdy, keeping the lighter safe from being bumped around and getting damaged. As mentioned, I read the other reviews and saw some people having issues shocking themselves when taking it out. I was careful to pull it out by the bottom. The box itself has a clear viewing window which makes it easy to see where the bottom is. Do NOT grab it by the tip and pull down as it's linked to the ignition lever on the handle. You WILL shock yourself. I would love to see this product redesigned to have a safety lock on it somewhere. Other than that, it seems great so far. The box has a foam like padding material and serves as a nice place to store it given that you wouldn't want anything to press on the black cover on the tip. Again, just remember to grab it by the bottom to pull it out.
