At last- a convincing protein dessert which is as described!
An actual convincing dessert which is as described. I have non stop been trying protein brands since starting strength training a few months ago and I was loving Protein Works Chocolate Silk powder mix shakes which convinced me to try the cake mix too. You have to master the 25- 30 secs in microwave but it really tastes lovely...like an actual dessert as opposed to some of the competition out there.Best thing is that it's quick and easy and at approx 150 cals and 20 odd grams protein per serving...you're laughing! Saying that, the shakes are less calories for the same amount of protein but if you have a serious love affair with puddings like I do- and can't bear the idea of going without dessert without compromising your diet plan...give this a whirl...it's pretty guilt free.I will definitely be looking at trying the other flavours too...I really like this brand of Protein. Thumbs up!

Bit weird but not too bad.
As a self-proclaimed human dustbin, I will eat anything. Food many people think belongs in the bin, I'd happily scoff down. I cooked this the first time with water and it was rank. So horrible. Made me flat stink to high heaven. I felt ill when I thought about it.So anyway, I made another a few days later (human dustbin etc), only this time with milk. It wasn't bad! But it also wasn't particularly nice. Got that weird protein powder twang about it and the aftertaste is a bit much, but with a tea or something you can wash it away. Hits that chocolate cake spot for far fewer calories. Be careful not to burn it as I have done putting it in for a few more seconds. It's a very sensitive little cake.Normal mug from Sainsbury's and you get a large portion. Sometimes doesn't cook on the bottom, but only needs 5-10 seconds at most to cook it through again. There's a photo of someone's cake and it's small and puck like. Mine is a proper thick mug cake if I follow the instructions. Confused as to how they got their puck.Goo in normal brownies is nice, goo in this is a bit sour. Best when the whole cake is cooked. Not done it yet, but it's crying out for some raspberries. Bet they'd balance out the flavour nicely.Very easy to prepare, get yourself some measuring spoons if you're not sure about the oil and milk/water quantities. The more accurate the measurements, the better the texture and cooking time accuracy. Works fine with olive oil (use a tasteless cooking one, not extra virgin) or vegetable oil. Ooh, I'm sure coconut oil would be nice actually.Overall, it's fine. 3/5 dustbins.

The chocolate is suprisingly good (it's still a protein product
The chocolate is suprisingly good (it's still a protein product, it's not going to taste like a regular brownie, but I enjoyed it). Make with milk or cream for something richer and slightly less healthy if you want. It's a little expensive compared to just protein powder on it's own, but the convienence it nice.

so i recommend that you heat for around 25 secs
First time i made it, it was a bit gooey, so i recommend that you heat for around 25 secs. It taste slighty dry so its worth ordering the maple syrup but otherwise i love it. im actually eating it right now at my desk at work as breakfast. I love cakes, chocolate etc so this is perfect. It taste so good that i ordered another bag to share with my parents at home, do not understand why these high proten, low sugar products are not more mainstream.Hard to clean the mug and.. it only does half a cup, maybe the picture used in the picture is a child size mug.Aftertaste once you've indulged is a bit like drinking the after taste of sugar free seven up though.

Artificial tasting.
I buy a number of Protein works products and they are brilliant. This 'mug cake' mixture is awfully artificial tasting. Would not recommend.

Good Product
I've got Double Choc, Salted Caramel and Choc Orange. All are great. I don't see why you need to microwave a splash of oil in the cup first - as soon as water is added it cools down anyway. It works far better skipping this step :)

Convenient Product - Not great taste
Protein cake is really easy to make, done in less than 2 minutes, however, I just find the taste to be slightly bitter and bland. Does the job but if it's taste your after, there are better products to be had.
