I ain't plugging that into my Atari. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
It's perfectly fine to use a modern switching power supply on an old Atari. In those days, switching power supplies were the bleeding edge, reserved for only expensive and elaborate systems. So, they used a linear power supply, which is what made the brick so heavy. This, though, is a few steps beyond reasonable cost reduction. It would barely pass as a cell phone adapter! Virtually no filtering, no quality whatsoever. Even the under-spec board they mount in the aesthetic giant housing is not fully populated. Cheaped out down to the bone.Better off clipping the lead off this and looking for a higher quality 9-volt DC power supply. About all it's good for is the unusual jack which was used on the Atari 2600. That's what I'll be using it for... instant E-waste with the rest of it. It ain't worth blowing up a $200+ antique console with a $10 power brick.

AC Power Supply
The plug works great and so far without a problem, however, it is very light. I was used to having the very heavy AC blocks from the orginal Nintendos, etc, so itwas concerning how light it was when I opened the package. So far it hasn't cause us any problem.

Works great
This works perfectly and is much closer to in specification than many of the original supplies. It is actually within half a volt of 9 even with no load.
