Very effective, practical sword
This is a practical sword, not a wall-hanger. There's no ornate brass, bone or ray skin. Just steel, with a modern polymer handle. It's extremely durable and solid, and it arrived plenty sharp. This is not a traditional wakazashi, but its design does incorporate some of the best aspects of traditional Japanese swords. The cross section and curve of the blade are both nice. The edge is not hollow ground, as suggested by another review. The blood groove reduces the weight of the blade, resulting in a quick, lightweight weapon. The full tang 1060 steel is properly tempered, which is very important. I bought a 1060 steel katana from another company and the temper was so soft, the sword was unusable. This United Cutlery blade springs back to true and holds an edge.I like the handle better than a traditional wakazashi handle. It's longer, so this sword can be wielded with two hands. The length of the handle and weight of the pommel brings this sword's center of balance close to the user, so parrying is very fast. The guard is as narrow as the handle, so it has a nice low profile, unlike the traditional full circle guard. This means less hand protection in sword-to-sword combat, but makes the sword much more compact and comfortable to wear. The pommel makes a little turn at the end of the handle, ensuring a secure grip when swinging. Like the sword, the sheath is lightweight, understated, and effective.

I have read many negative reviews for this product online. As well watched many videos. (Ordered from a different site). I figured I’d roll the dice and order on Amazon. Because regardless of the negative reviews. I still like the product and wanted to add to my collection. First off it arrived pretty quickly, less than a week. Arrived new condition and packaging. So win win there. Now the product. It has a pretty decent edge, it’s not razor sharp. But it’s a sword, not a knife. Swords aren’t meant to be knife sharp. Which is one complaint I’ve read. Besides decent edge it has a nasty point. If piercing is the goal then it’s a winner. This product is clearly a modern reimagined classic katana. Everything about it is very modern. It’s had a noticeably shorter blade than a classic katana. Which is great to me because it means that I can actually use it. Goodbye camping machete. It’s pretty solid construction. The grip feels solid in hand. The best way I can describe this thing. Is a modern combat sword. Heck if I were in active combat. I would carry this alone with a fixed blade and folder. With this I bought 2 cheap allegedly “real” katanas. I tested this one against those. I broke them both in half, so yeah there’s that. It’s worthy of being in any collection. It can even be a worker where the others are just display. On and the scabbard is pretty cool. Standard wood scabbard but the leather wrap really adds something. So yeah anyway, if you’re a collector. It’s worth the price to add to your collection. If you’re a backyard cutter, grab one and you’re sureto have fun. If you’re a newb, well you likely don’t know any better, so BUY ONE. That is all, Foxx out...

Amazing sword for the price
I am blown away at the quality at this price point. Thick, well balanced blade. Great scabbard which fits perfectly and the blade is very sharp unlike what others have said. No its not razor sharp like I keep some of my knives buts it is sharp enough to make you very aware of where that blade is while swinging it around. It is the perfect sharpness for a sword. It comes to a wicked point so a stab would be serious. This thing is the perfect length too. When you hold it down to your side with the point straight down the point just clears the floor. Long but not too long. The best 100 bucks I have spent in a long time.

Fully Functional
This sword offers the benefits of a slashing blade as well as a piercing blade. When used as intended it is well worth the money. If you are wanting to hack brush... get a machete, but if you want a real sword that can decimate a potential threat... this is the sword for you. The blade has a spring temper so it will bend before breaking (even a bent sword is more functional than a broken one). This sword is not flashy but the quality is evident even to an untrained eye. One last note- this is NOT a katana. It is styled after a wakizashi (short sword) with a katana length handle.

Great product for a great price.
This is an amazing sword, as one of the reviews said probably not a display item but despite that it looks really nice and quality wise it is excellent. It came very well packaged, with instructions of care. The sword is really heavy (I'm used to training ones made of light material, so it is no surprise I find it a bit heavy. It comes very sharp out the box. Great product for a great price.

Everything on the sword is good. The only reason I gave this sword a 3 star rating is because of the edge geometry. Wow, I wonder who's bright idea it was to give it a 30 degree bevel (or even a hollow grind) on a sword! Jeez, it would've been way better if they went with the scandi grind. It's cutting power will be limited until you reprofile the edge.Positives: its well balanced and feels good. No other complaints.

It's a great sword for the price
It's a great sword for the price. The handle sounds a tad bit loose but so far no problems with it. The sword was pretty sharp out of the box. Did it cut through things? Yes. Yes it did. I chopped a pineapple in half in one swing and then every one at the BBQ yelled "why do you have a sword at a BBQ!?" "You ruined half the pineapple!!!" "Why are you like this?!" Then I cut a gallon jug of water in half and once again people questioned why they invite me to gatherings.
