Great value for the money and quality
I bought the double set for two kayaks. These could easily be be double the cost, excellent value. The fit and finish is fine and the build quality seems great. I mounted them and bought two 12 ft kayaks and drove home from an hour away on freeway and highway. Performed great with kayaks on and makes no noise with no kayaks mounted. There was one hardware item missing in my order. Seller sent a replacement harware KIT, not just the one part. Very pleased and would recommend. Other reviewer left one star because it does not include instructions on how to mount kayaks. His flew off of his rack. Apparently he never heard of Youtube.

Nice set of racks, with a few caveats.
First off, I’ll say these are a good set of racks for the cost. I wanted less expensive racks rather than pay $100 plus for similar items at the box chain stores.Installation wasn’t too bad. Instructions were simple enough, took some guessing at times, but we got through it with a little common sense. It’s all pictures and no written explanation.Once mounted, the kayaks resting surface doesn’t sit flat, and there is no way to adjust it to make sure it does. That being said, they angle with the angle of the roof racks crossbars. The bolts that come with it are long to allow for universal mounting on any crossbar, however on ours it’s a bit to long, without moonroof on our Nissan, luckily to slide part pops down to slide back, tho to just do the other option of cracking the back side, I’m to afraid to open it as the glass on the moonroof may crunch up against the bolt and crack it or even shatter it. So our moonroof doesn’t get opened in the up position, however, I have an easy fix of just replacing the bolts for shorter ones at my expense, I just haven’t don that yet.Once installed, they do hold steady. Expect a little movement at first especially if the bolts were tightened with any caution. It’ll loosen, just tighten them more and they stay in place. Part of the install does have a two bolt system to insure they don’t loosen on your journeys, one of those bolts is a hand tighten bolt with a plastic outer handle of sorts. I tested to see if this bolt alone would hold, it does ok for short distances of a few miles, but longer distances especially on a bumpy road and you can expect it to loosen, so use the single piece with caution. The straps are a serious issue. One, they need to be threaded through the hold tensioner correctly. Done correctly where it thread through the back and turns back towards the strap itself is the correct way, that has the most holding power. However, even the correct way, they loosing as you travel. It’s an added expense, but I recommend buying some ratchet straps that will give a solid hold without coming loose. I bought a four pack rated at 100 lbs per with 16 foot leads. In reality a 10 or 8 foot lead at 50 pounds would be sufficient. I ratchet both ends of the kayaks to each rack. It will add pressure to the kayak, but it’s minimal and reduces the risk of having our investment flying across the street in traffic. For the cost of the just the racks themselves, not a bad deal. Throw the worthless straps away and spend another $14 on ratchet straps and you’ll be golden.

Cheap and works!
So, first off the directions are horrible and grainy, but I figured it out by grouping everything and thinking it through (I’ll attach photo so you can decide the difficulty yourself). The screws fit the holes, I didn’t need to do anything to adjust them- it just took a a while to tighten properly because you have to get the screws pushed ALL the way in the tighter or else the screw just twists with the bolt. I would suggest doing this but using a rubber mallet to hit the top of the screw down, because it’s a big pain in the butt when you actually have it mounted (which is what I did). You’ll probably want a wrench to do this, as no tools are provided (two different sized bolts). That’s said, we had our first outing with these J bars AND used the included straps (we have crank ones but they seemed a little excessive for what we needed). Absolutely no issues with the kayaks, although we did only travel about 10 miles. They are easy to use, just make sure ALL the screws are tight.Overall, I’m am happy with this purchase! They will do great and are affordable. I might want to save up for ones that collapse, but given Covid and how I almost never drive, I don’t mind leaving these guys on there.

Absolutely perfect
This was the best deal on amazon at the time. It's sturdy enough to haul my 13 foot kayak, providing stability in pair with ratchet straps. I haven't removed them because I hope to use them more before summer is over. Performance 10-10

Difficult
Installing these were much harder than needed. Getting the bolts all the way down through the rubber was a difficult task that I’d rather not do again. I tried using my thumb to push the bolt down but after 2 bolts my thumb was super sore. I ended up using a spare socket to apply pressure on the top of the bolt while spinning the nut to get the bolts seated through the super tight rubber. It would not impact the quality of this roof rack to make extra room for the bolts for an easier install. These roof racks are also not suitable for larger fishing kayaks.

Worked
They worked good for my kayaks. I had one XL Adult kayak and Small Adult kayak on them. The stability is great. Made them feel secure. The fit is good since they fit on my removable roof racks. The noise is none. There was no missing parts.

Rusty, ripped rubber, poor fit, shakes loose
Not for a 2nd gen Xterra roof rack or any other with oval-like crossbars. With the width as wide as possible on my factory roof rack, the angle of these J racks touch in the center, making evenly spaced kayaks impossible. Following another review, I replaced the bolts with longer ones and got new nuts as well. After 3-4 uses there are large areas of the metal that have rusted (paint missing) and the foam padding is getting smeared and flaking off. I remove these during the week when we're not taking the kayaks out; storing them inside. The sharp edges of the bracket/clamp section that grips your roof rack are a pain, especially because I have to keep tightening them before loading each time, there & back. It's never been a very confident fit. Buy cheap; buy twice.
