A great simple explanation of circulatory system.
I'm not sure why this gets such terrible reviews. It's not entirely accurate but it's designed to give a simplified explanation of the circulatory system for children. My husband is a firefighter and my daughter (4 years old) is fascinated with his work especially during his EMT course. This provides a visual for her to see the blood coming into and out of the heart and to provide a gateway to questions she might not know to ask. She knows a heart pumps blood and has something to do with a pulse this provides her something to experience to link those ideas together. It has a small activity booklet. I have no idea if there are instructions in it as filling it is pretty self explanatory, just take the pump off fill it and pump the fluid in. If the dye packs are empty or dry, I haven't checked mine, some red flood coloring will suffice. I think people might be expecting a bit much of a toy.

excellent teaching tool
excellent teaching tool. The dye for blood is very realistic and easy to use. The 5 year old kids in class loved pressing the pump to fill heart with blood. Just wish the lungs didn't fill with blood!

Does not work. Ridiculous instructions to set up and put away. Not for home use.
This MIGHT be something for a classroom to use, but the red liquid does not "pump" anything, it just squirts around. You have to carefully mix red dye powder and add it (without staining anything) and add it to the toy. Then you have to be SUPER careful to not let children actually play with it or they will get the red dye all over your house. Then, to put it away, you have to take the tiny parts all apart with a tiny screwdriver, drain and rinse the red dye out of all the nooks and crannies and let it dry out for several days before you can put it back together. Totally not worth the hassle. Kids did not learn anything.

Great
I bought this for my son's science project and it is a great model. Its well made and easy to put together. The heart is well worth the price.

Easy to put together
Love this model but the liquids stay in one place and it doesn’t all move to the location you want. Hand pump didn’t work as well as expected. It works to teach the flow though.

Good learning tool
Hard to squeeze that pump, and it's really hard to determine exactly how much liquid to put into the heart to make it right for kids to squeeze. That said, it is a great demonstration of the way the heart works and the 4 different chambers - just make sure you tell the kids that blood doesn't "pool up" in the lungs and heart chambers like it does in this demo. The kids really can't stay away from it.
