Q: How do i use juat the tip?

If you have another tool for the cricut maker the tips are interchangeable, I have the fabric cutting tip which you can swap out for the engraving tip

Q: Do I need to buy the quick swap housing or will this work with what comes in the box of the maker 3??

Yes you need to buy the quickswap housing but once you have it you can buy all sorts of tips for it
