LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this item. Never mind the magnetic tray which is awesome on it's own. This has the breakdown of well, breaking down your 1911 and putting it back together. This was so much easier than reading the owners manual. I don't think they write owner's manuals for guns so the average Joe or Jane can read and understand them. This is not my first handgun and while most are very similar when taking apart, each has it's own special lock, mechanism, etc to take it apart. The 1911 is NO exception. This mat is easy to read and has PICTURES. Who doesn't love pictures?!Pictures aside, the mat is nice material, easy to clean/wipe off and keeps the gun and your furniture from getting scratched. I wish they had these kinds of pics of all different handguns on their mats. I lucked out on the 1911. I chose this one over the others with pics due to the magnetic tray. nothing worse than losing a tiny piece that is essential to your gun.

The avid mat for the S&W shield plus without manual safety is exactly what I needed. The instructions follow the shield plus manual closely and accurately and the stripped pistol is what you get. Not like some of the mats that show the blow up of the frame pieces which S&W does not want us to mess with. I assume because all 3 internal safeties are in the frame. The mat is very resistant to cleaning solvent and gun oil. Wipe right up. The attached small parts tray is a super addition. I use it for the recoil spring and for corralling my small tools needed for the take down process. This is my first cleaning mat of any kind for a gun and I love it. The other Avid mats looked to me to be as good as the shield plus mat. If you are looking for a quality product at a competitive price this mat and the Avid company are it.

I have a Glock 43X mos and a Ruger LCP Max 380. This mat is great for cleaning my pistols! Very well made and, the small parts are nicely stored in the side compartment.

Pretty great but the magnetic part is tiny. Only one magnetic tray just big enough for the pins.

Accurate depiction of disassembled pistol. Absorbs excess cleaning fluids. Handy tray for small parts. Easy to clean and roll up for storage. Quality made.

I like the material. Was able to keep all parts on the large surface. Quickly cleaned and reassembled. Cleanup was a breeze. Wife appreciates that I don't need to use any of the towels.

Perfect gift for someone with a new 1911. Love the side tray and the grip mat. Had to buy one for myself.
