Big Barker 7" Pillow Top Orthopedic Dog Bed for Large and Extra Large Breed Dogs (Sleek Edition) (Large (48 x 30 x 7), Khaki)

I purchased this bed for my 6 year old 55 lb lab/shepherd mix (that's our best guess as to what she is!) after MUCH shopping around. For about a year I went back and forth about purchasing a bed from a retailer that makes very expensive memory foam beds. The beds I considered buying from them were well over $200 (some were $300) and were only 3 or 4" high. While their reviews are very strong, I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much money, and so I kept putting it off. I also wasn't sure that 3-4" high was enough support. One day I came across the Big Barker beds on Amazon. I read the reviews, visited their website, and instantly I was sold-- I purchased the bed the very same day. The thickness and quality of the foam can't be beat-- where else can you find a bed that is 7" deep? With foam made in the USA? I didn't want my baby sleeping on a bed full of chemicals, so when I read that their foam is USA made and much higher quality than that which is mass produced overseas, I knew this was the right bed for us. Further, the whole product is made in the USA, and this purchase supports smaller businesses. Not to mention there is a 10 year guarantee!When it arrived it took about a day to fully plump up, but my dog slept on it that night. The size is perfect for her, she can stretch out, curl up, whatever. We have had it about 2 weeks and she has gotten used to it (she used to sleep in bed with us because our old bed for her was so terrible--so the full transition to the bed took a few days), and I am so happy she has such a comfortable, supportive bed. I worried about her joints as she is getting older, and I wanted the best therapeutic bed I could find for her. I am pretty sure this is it! When she lays on it, it does NOT sink in--she is fully supported. It's amazing. My cat even loves it--she sleeps in the bed when my dog isn't using it.While I haven't had to wash the cover yet, it seems like it will be easy to wash. It is very soft and a really nice fabric. All in all I am VERY pleased with this purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for the best bed they can find for their best friend. I couldn't be happier with this purchase--after all of the shopping around I did I am convinced this is the best bed for the money (and honestly, the price is pretty reasonable given the quality of this bed!). I got this as a Christmas present for my 9-year-old GSD. I also bought the waterproof liner. This bed has exceeded my expectations. It is very thick and does not deflate or compress when my 95 lb. dog is on it, which is a lot; the cat even sleeps on it from time to time. I’ve sat and lain on it as well and it is so comfortable that I could sleep on it. It is also light and can be picked up relatively easily when cleaning. It’s worth every penny. Great product.

Last week our 13 year old Basset Hound woke up in the middle of the night with severe back pain. Her veterinarian diagnosed her with a slipped disc in her back. We ordered this bed for her when it seemed like she couldn't get comfortable on any of her current beds (A memory foam mattress topper and a Serta dog bed) and was opting for just a blanket on the floor. The decision on this one was easy due to the reviews and how quickly it would arrive with Prime. She ended up not able to stay on her medicine due to having a horrible reaction to it and had it not been for this bed she would have been in severe pain. Her first night sleeping on it she slept the entire night without waking up which she doesn't normally do. The next day as she slept on it her shaking from the pain was immediately reduced. As of now (three days since delivery) she is almost back to her normal self without the need for medication. This bed was worth EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY. We have been calling it the miracle bed.We having been moving it back and forth between the bedroom and living room and will be ordering a second bed for her soon, This morning after she woke up she went to the living room and waited patiently facing where we've been placing her Big Barker and when she saw me coming with it she started wagging her tail and climbed on it immediately.The construction is very high quality, and the large is supportive enough for me to sleep on. Lily weighs 60 pounds, is about 34 inches long and has more than enough room to spread completely out on it. In fact she rarely takes up more than half of it when laying on her stomach. It's firm enough to support the weight of the dog without any sagging but is soft enough that her joints are still cradled. It seems to mold to the contours of her body. If you're hesitating because of the price, don't. This bed will last your dog from puppy through senior while protecting his joints without the hassle of having to buy dozens of cheaper beds. My only regret is that we didn't purchase this for her sooner!

An Amazon search for chew-resistant beds turned up the Big Barker beds, and I bought them thinking that the 10-year warranty applied to the entire unit. It turns out that the beds are not chew-resistant, and were never described that way by the manufacturer (my bad -- I should have read more carefully); more, that the warranty applies only to the foam (for this one, the Amazon headline was/is definitely misleading -- again, not the manufacturer's fault). So the beds arrived, and the dogs (11 months, husky-shepherd mix) love them. They chewed through one of the covers the first night, but have done no further damage. The beds are attractive, huge, and of evident quality: I have no doubt that they will last a long time.When I contacted the manufacturer after seeing the damage after one night, they were most gracious. New - even more sturdy - covers were sent that day , and at a greatly reduced price.So 5 stars to Big Barker, and perhaps fewer for the (in this case) misleading Amazon search page.
