Read this if you play drums - Crystal Clear For Drumming!
I play drums to music and have always been plagued with the dilemma of cranking up the music in my headphones to be able to hear the music and vocals over my acoustic drums. Once I get that balance right, I am still left with listening to a muffled version of my drums in my ears. I recently bought microphones for each drum and plugged them into an Audio Interface. Now I can finally hear the drums in my ears with perfect clarity and balance thanks to these Shure AONIC 5 Earphones. These Shure AONIC5 when used as IEMs are the right blend of isolation without needing noise cancelation yet the 3 drivers allow the drums to sound recording quality perfect in my ears even when mixed with music and vocal tracks.

Accurate and spacious sound
I'm hearing things in my music that I've never heard before. The details these earbuds deliver is extraordinary. Yes they are expensive. But if you crave accurate sound they are worth it. If all you listen to are MP3s or some sort of compressed music files you can find cheaper options that will probably do. But if you're like me and only listen to uncompressed music you will love these earbuds.

Not impressed, Cant change ear bud tips, Volume controls fail, They produce very little bass?
I twisted left and right and pulled hard trying to get the default ear bud tips to come off and they will NOT come off. ***they are stuck on very well, I literally started to tear the foam while trying to change the tips and gave up as I didnt want to destroy them??????????????I tried the volume controls on my phone and my laptop and my desktop THEY DO NOT WORK at all????????I have 3 different pairs of cheap $50/$75 earbuds and over the ear headphones that produce WAY MORE BASS then these $500 earbuds do???? ***this is unacceptable in every way....***I often get lemons for some strange reason???I will try these for a few more days and see how it goes and try to find a video on how to change the earbud TIPS to see if this helps with the terrible fit and no bass........ I have the bass turned up all the way on all my devices and very little comes out of these earbuds???I expected so much more from all the positive reviews and $500 price tag......I'm very disappointed for sure.......

No low ends, very tinny
Very comfortable but not for me. There was no lows, bass very empty and shallow. If you enjoy mids and crisp highs only then these are for you. I ordered the Sennheiser IE400 also and they won the battle hands down. The money savings was not a factor in my decision.

Rediscover your music
When I looked at these, I wondered how in the world a set of earbuds could be worth $500. After using them for about 5 minutes, my question was answered with a resounding "This is how!" I'm a bit of an audiophile and more than a bit of a musician and I've always dismissed the idea that any in-ear device could come close to a good set of cans. That was a misguided assumption on my part. These are simply amazing. For comparison, I own the following headphones: B&O H9, Bose QC, Grado SR60, and an old pair of Yamaha YH1s. These sound better than all of them, with the possible exception of the B&Os, which by the way come in at the same price, or at least the B&Os were the same price when I obtained them a few years ago. The lows that these earbuds deliver seem almost impossible - I settled in with the "balanced" inserts, as I listen to a wide variety of music and also use them for streaming movies and watching Youtube streams. I can't imagine needing more bass, but if you do, you can switch out the inserts. Same goes if you want a brighter sound.Shure was smart about sending plenty of different sizes and types of inserts in the package, so you have many options for customizing for fit and comfort. It took me about a week, after rotating inserts and listening to a variety of samples before I settled in the memory foam. There was definitely some discomfort until I arrive at the right fit and material. It also took me a while before I arrived at the proper way to wear these. Once I settled in though, well.. Good Lord are they awesome! I should also mention that the isolation rivals that of a headphone with active noise cancellation; when the music is paused, white noise (fan noise, dishwasher running, air conditioner cycling, etc.) all but disappears. The only thing marginally negative is that there is a very, very small amount of white noise from mic on the other end of the line when I'm using them on a Facetime call, but I asked the people of the receiving end specifically to listen for it.All in all, I'm really impressed with these. The build quality is great, the options to customize are almost endless, the cords are replaceable, and they are supposed be releasing an accessory to allow you to use these via bluetooth. I highly, highly recommend these for the serious listener.5 stars, only because I can't give them 6.

Not what you'd expect from Shure.
Ever since I got my first pair of Shure earphones I was sold. The product line never represented a 'wholesome' music experience, but crisp sound separation with an impressive sound stage. My friend once joked that the Shure earphones are so clear they add new instruments to the track. I went from SE 315, to 425, 535 and finally 535 LTD. The last pair was brilliant, with much improved bass and the same clarity I've come to expect. When my 535 LTD fell apart, I decided to give the AONIC 5 a go. A new Shure lineup after all these years, surely they must be even better. Boy do I wish I went for the 535 again. The AONIC line seems to be going for a completely different sound profile - a rounded balance with deep bass and controlled highs. It delivers in the bass department, with really nice depth and a significant improvement over anything else I tried from Shure before. The unfortunate thing is that I've not been buying Shures because of a passion for deep bass. There are other, frankly better brands for that. Shure always shined in terms of separation, to the point where it was uncomfortable to listen to (in a heavenly way once you got used to it). With AONIC 5, all of the other sounds blend together with very poor sound separation, the highs are controlled but lack the crispness, and the vocals come across as muffled. The only music I find truly enjoyable is electronic music with strong bass lines. I am not sure if it's just my pair - I've read the reviews prior to purchase and they seemed well reviewed. Most of my playlists are either vocalists, pop, instrumentals or pop/rock though and the quality of the sound there is more comparable to a £100 - £200 pair of earphones.I tried playing around with some of the provided accessories that let you slightly change the sound profile. While it makes a tiny difference, it doesn't change the underlying balance of the sound at all. Overall, at least for me personally, the AONIC line is a step in a strange direction. It tries to compete with bass heavy earphones and completely loses what made the Shure sound great. I will likely end up buying the SE 535 LTD again and not use the AONIC anymore, it's been a disappointment.

Perfect 10/10 for those serious about sound.
I think these are terrific. The sound is extremely vibrant and the acoustic balance is just right allowing the sound to balance from top to bottom and the mids just making the balance right. The treble can be slightly higher than needed depended on the quality of the recording etc but I think this is common due to the amount of drivers pushing the sound as best as it can in since a small package. In my opinion if you just want heavy pointless bottom base then don’t waste your money and go buy some cheap boom garbage headphones. If you Crystal Clear Sound and a fantastic sound balance with good bass and superb tannoy effect processing then this is a must.

Wow - these have more clout than the reviews would have you believe
I was expecting something refined, detailed and with great soundstage but probably lacking a bit of bass presence. Pleasantly surprised and happy to get to know the default tuning before trying the warm nozzles. Not sure what I'd change at the moment...
