The unit I got weighed right but didn't have batteries included but also had an issue: The battery compartment wouldn't fit in a AAA battery. The batteries would go in fine, but the lid wouldn't close.So I sent it for a replacement. Replacement arrived, this time with batteries included. I noticed that these batteries although AAA too were actually slimmer than the standard AAA batteries that we are used to and these fit in the compartment - but still the lid was tight fit. (I tried Amazon basics rechargable as well as normal Everday - both still wouldn't fit in the compartment and were "widthier" than the AAA that was sent.). But then when I powered on the unit, it simply didn't weigh - the reading always stayed at 0. I promptly returned this one too and was able to get a refund thanks to amazon.Note: Both the units did not appear to be used pieces - they were brand new.In summary: Given that such pieces are being shipped to the customer, I don't believe the have a quality manufacturing process behind it. Its rather hit and miss.
