Well, it finally died!
I purchased this thing in 2018 and we've carried it to the salty ocean shores for 7 years now, not to mention countless other events. I was originally concerned about the price, but year after year it's been the best performing, sturdiest, most well-built canopy I've ever purchased. I make it a habit after coming back from the beach to hose it down really well and pressure wash up inside the poles to get the sand out. Salt and sand will ruin anything if it's not cared for.The instructions show the canopy being removed between uses and put on fresh each time. We've never taken it off. For seven years it's held up fine being folded and packed away. It's super fast to setup, durable as can be, and totally worth it!This year we took it to the beach and one of my gang decided to try to set it up solo in 30 mile-per-hour winds.....It's not the canopy's fault. No canopy is made to withstand that kind of wind, especially while being setup by one guy in the sand. Somehow during the fight with it down the beach he broke one of the support struts. My only solace is that in the process of trying to set it up, when the wind flipped it upside down it wrapped him up in it in the process. lol. Serves him right!Guess what? I'm buying another one just like it! It was worth every penny and the next one will be too!

BEST canopy of this type. get it.
Note: There are two this size by Coleman, match the picture and get this one with the air vent. This thing works great, and it's the best for this type of canopy. We go to Florida ocean beaches with this and there is a constant breeze which can get pretty strong. I added an extra parachute cord (get it at Walmart) for an additional tent peg for each corner and bought some good, twisting stakes for the sand here on Amazon. NO problems at all in very windy conditions. It really does set up easily and come down easy too, in about 15 minutes. Watch the Youtubes on it.First, we bought a tent-type canopy from another company that used those fiberglass poles. Never get those. The wind snapped them and they are not repairable. We sent it back. It crashed in less than a week! Good thing I had an umbrella backup. It's only drawbacks to the Coleman are that it is heavy, and that Coleman does not replace parts. That is not good. However I watched some repair videos and would fix it myself if a pole bent.

Excellent, stable beach canopy - even on very windy days
Here's a pic of the canopy. It is very easy to set up. We buried the legs about 8" down, attached sand bags (AbcCanopy) and tied the tethers on each corner to the bags. The tethers are designed for stakes (included), but that wouldn't work in the sand. It was very windy at the beach and the canopy was completely stable. Also buy the Velcro AbcCanopy bags - no zippers as they would not work well in the sand. Some hints: You can leave the canopy top attached with the Velcro on the frame corners and Velcro tabs on the top ribs. It folds up just fine. However, do not fold it up with the Velcro tabs attached to the accordion perimeter. They will get jammed in the hinges. When setting up, lay the canopy on its side, extend the legs, and then open it up. Presto, shade. It also has a vent at the top that helps keep the canopy stable in wind. Very nice product.

It held up to both and it pretty much repels the rain
Have used it twice and it has been in strong winds and heavy rainstorm. It held up to both and it pretty much repels the rain. I didn't realize that the leg part was green. My bad, would have liked to have had a neutral color. We are now on our third frame. The first one (about six months old) broke in a freak wind (not more than 25 m per hour) and Coleman replaced it. They were very easy to work with. Our second one caved on about two weeks ago after over a year of use. Both frames came apart at the joints. They just snap into at the bends. For the most part the tops can withstand a right gustsy wind. In spite of the tendency for the frames to destruct we feel that this is the best canopy for us.

Best beach shelter for the money
First of all this is my third Coleman Sun Shelter. The first one lasted several years after much abuse by sun and salt at the beach. When it finally got old we loved it so much we ordered another one. Unfortunately, Hurricane Sally destroyed that one shortly after we bought it(it wasn't assembled at the time, just in a storage shed) along with many other things we owned. So, we had to order another one to replace that one.It arrived and appeared fine, just as you would expect. Upon putting it up at the beach the first time I noticed a slight imperfection in the canopy itself. It wasn't something that would make it unusable, just something that would have diminished its total lifespan. This is where I was truly impressed. I took a couple photos of the imperfection while we were at the beach. I emailed Coleman customer service the following morning. Within an hour, I had a response asking for a bit more details and my purchase receipt. Before the end of the day, Coleman customer service had agreed to send an entire replacement, at no additional cost, to me. It arrived this week in perfect condition. Now for the actual product review. This is about 35 to 40 pounds. It is heavier than the offbrand canopies but comes with a carrying case that has wheels to make it easier to transport. Those wheels are of course almost useless on the loose sand but great for moving it to and from the vehicle and parking lots. Most average people can easily toss it on their shoulder for the final trek thru the sand. It does include carrying straps on the bag. This is extremely easy to setup with at least 2 people. The cheaper ones are no where near as sturdy as this one and just don't hold up to the wind, sun and salt. I will say it's imperative that you spray this off after every use as sand will make the slides and locks inoperable after only a few uses if you don't. If you simply spray it down with freshwater after each use, it will last a long time. This canopy, unlike the cheaper ones has a wind vent at the top that is a must when you are using it at the beach. The sudden gusts of wind will lift the others and destroy them while this one remains standing. We set it up at its tallest setting, there are 3 settings, and then use our feet to dig about 6 inches into the sand, we then place the legs in those holes and push the sand back over them. We have watched many other types of canopies be flipped and ours will still be standing strong. During extremely rough winds we occasionally use the supplied, preattached ropes to anchor it to our cooler carrying handle, just to be safe.I highly recommend getting the optional sunscreen that covers one side. It makes the entire covered portion usable instead of having the sun intrude on one side. When we go to the beach we plan on staying for the day so as the sun moves, we simply pick the canopy up and turn the sunscreen to the side where the sun is now at instead of moving the screen every time. All of our friends love this canopy and we've watched them go thru multiple cheap ones while we continued to use the same one. Spend the little bit of extra money and get this one. The quality is great and it will last a long time if you take care of it.
