Yes, pretty quite in my opinion...I bought mine to keep the dust off of my rifle while on the ATV. I haven't been trained on yet, but I suspect it will do its job.

Q: is this item camo or black?

The one that I have is black but, I believe that it comes in camo also.

Q: I need at least 10" of height to cover the scope. Can this carrier accommodate the 10" height requirement?

The GunSlicker only extends about 8 inches total. So the taller the scope, the more your stock is going to be exposed on the bottom. Coming in February we do have a new model coming out with a draw cord on the bottom which will help to accommodate taller guns from scope to trigger.

Q: does this act as a gunsling as well?

It does not. But because it slips over the gun and doesn’t go on like a sock you can still use your sling
