Q: How long does the bad smell last? I am considering using this for indoor potted trees. Will it stink up my house for long?

All of the nutrients stink but once you mix them in water the smell isn’t bad. I’ve had an indoor grow for 3 years and we use all 13 flavors of Fox Farm. Great stuff! You can also print a feeding schedule from there site

Q: Is this water soluble?

Yes. Depending on your setup you mix it in a gallon of water or your reservoir for hydro. You can get a feeding schedule from Google. Just query fox farm feeding scuedule

Q: Can this be used to plant germinated seeds?

I wouldn’t worry about any sort of nutrient in the first few weeks typically, potting mix is usually sufficient for a couple weeks from seed regardless of plant type.

Q: Why does the lid have a little round hole in it?

I don't think mine had a hole in the lid.
