CYA - Tired Water - Chlorine Demand Problem
high CYA levels aka tired water is what most of us go through. Preferably, the population prefers using chlorine pucks that contain CYA also known as stabilizer.I tried the liquid chlorine method, and it was costly, so I ended resorting back to chlorine pucks for my 30,000-gallon pool.Over a period of 2-3 years after refilling your pool CYA added overtime does not dilute or get removed with any chemicals. Additionally, the only option to balance your CYA levels is to drain your pool. Tell that to the city. Some of us are in a drought environment.Too much CYA requires for chlorine to work harder so in this case you need to shock more and add more pucks, or you will have an algae growth problem.Pool Rx keeps your Algae problem under control, so your chorine doesn't need to work harder. Therefore, you will be using less chlorine/shock to keep you water clear.I can't say the product lasts 6 months, but it keeps me sane for at least 3 months of management pool care.

Did the trick to get it to the next level
Seemed to do the trick to get the last bit of green out of water. Our pool is 20 years old and we’ve never drained the water. 35 gallons. Seems like past 5 springs we’ve battled algae and our salt cell went out so we started using 3-in-1 chlorine granules from Sam’s that have algaecide and shock in them. That has worked great until this year when a huge dust storm blew in, combined with multiple rains and unusually cool weather for Texas. I did let my chlorine level get too low but had to vacuum the dirt out of the pool bottom first then clean filters, then shock, then top off with pool RX in one of my skimmer baskets (vs pump basket) as I was afraid of some reviews saying it was too much and my chlorine is high. After two days of running about 10 hours at night my water is crystal clear. It hasn’t been this pretty in years. If you see any green in picture it the camera as in person it’s as clear and blue as it can be with my Pebbletech interior.

Awesome product and fast delivery
I love this product. It eliminates algae. I highly recommend this. It says they last 6 months but I have had one last that long. I went through 2 of them last summer. Which is still way cheaper that all the shock and other chemicals I was using every week and still fight an algae problem. The first one lasted about 2 months. The second one last through the winter. When I opened the pool this year I still had a fairly new one that I used at the end if the summer. I saved it and used it to open my pool this year. My pool was so green that you could not see the bottom. I opened the pool but didn’t have time to shock it or do anything. I stuck the pool RX on the skimmer to see if it would help at all. 1 week later my pool was clear with zero shock used. That blew my mind. I thought it was just a preventative but it killed all the algae and cleared the pool up.My water started getting green again a month later so I shocked it and bought this Pool RX to start the new pool season.I still use a chlorine tab floater but I don’t shock the pool but maybe once a month now. I only do that because people say I should. But my water is crystal clear. Just try it. I think you will be impressed. But you will likely need two of the to complete the pool season. But it is worth it because the maintenance is down to basically just vacuuming once a week.

If I could give 10 STARS I would.
My pool chemistry was good and I had appropriate chlorine and yet my pool kept a green tint, and after a few days a thin layer of Algae would return. I wasn't sure whether this product would work,After following the instructions my pool is CRYSTAL clear and BLUE. (2 days, filter bypass).Best pool money I have ever spent.

Does your Algicide really work??
The Pool RX-Black works well... It is expensive ($90/unit-good for a 25-30K gallon pool) and in the CA summer heat may not last the full advertized 6 mos effective life. It also requires that you keep your pool chemistry balanced (free Chlorine levels, pH, Alkalinity, Ca Hardness). I have tried a number of other liquid algicides with mostly marginal to poor results - they are all expensive, especially if you have to keep adding more because they aren't doing an effective job and you have to do extensive cleaning to keep the algae off the bottom and sides of the pool. The Pool RX unit just sits in the skimmer or pre-filter basket and controls both black and yellow algae (good pool chemistry is important). If I got the full 6 mos of effective control with one unit, I would have given Pool RX 5 stars.

Get it now!
Works wonders! For years I dealt with algae blooms in the summer if I slacked off even a little on the chemical upkeep, but I'm going into my third year with this in the filter and haven't had a bloom since! The water stays crystal clear! I have auto ship on to get one twice a year and it's a good reminder to clean the filters right before installing (not supposed to clean them after installing).

BEWARE: NEARLY WRECKED OUR POOL
I followed all the directions for implementing this thing, including paying my pool guy $60 to clean our filters prior to installation. Within 72 hours of deploying, the pool developed a purplish dust covering the entire bottom and stairs, the stuff was EVERYWHERE. When I ran a brush across any area, there was a resultant purple cloud of this material rising off the bottom. I pulled the RX unit out and manually began sweeping the pool bottom every day to get the mess into the filtration system, which accordingly turned the just-cleaned filters purple. Then I had to pay our guy ANOTHER $60 to clean the filters AGAIN. As soon as the unit was removed from the pool, the purple cloud problem ceased. Luckily, I still had one remaining day in Amazon's return window to return this piece of crap and get my money back. But parts of the pool plaster are now visibly stained, which I can't scrub vigorously without possibly damaging the plaster, and it's $10,000 to replaster. So, thanks a whole bunch "PoolRX".
