Problem-solver!
The problem: how to paint a picture of our school mascot onto two wooden worm composting bins my son built. Free hand was not an option because he wanted it exact. Looked on line and someone suggested taking a big piece of paper, scribbling on the back with a soft lead pencil, then flipping it over and tracing over it, which would leave a faint impression on the surface to be painted. They described it as homemade transfer paper. Transfer paper? We'd never hear of it, but of course, after a quick search on Amazon, we found it. Well, it worked perfectly! He just took a blown up PDF of the mascot, taped it to the transfer paper, taped the transfer paper to the box, and traced over all the design with a regular pencil. It left a nice impression on the wood and he was able to paint right onto it. He also printed out some letters in large font off the computer and transferred and painted the school name the same way. This was much cleaner and easier that scribbling on the back of a paper in soft lead pencil. I highly recommend keeping a roll of this stuff around the house! I can think of many ways it could be useful for different DIY projects.

Transfer Paper Works Very Well for Tracing Patterns
I purchased the Saral Transfer Paper Roll in blue and have been using it as I trace sewing patterns onto the Sun Glo White Thumbnail Sketch Tracing Paper. The paper consistently transfers marks with the use of a tracing wheel with very few smudges from where the paper is held in place by my fingers/hand. I've used other transfer papers that have left many unwanted marks; this transfer paper seems to do so less frequently. This comes in a roll/box very similar to kitchen waxed paper, although without a cutting edge. I've pulled out the length of paper needed and then cut with scissors. Be sure to wipe your scissors off if you are concerned about transferring the color with your next use. I've been very pleased with the blue paper; it works well for tracing patterns and also could be used to transfer pattern markings to appropriate fabric. I'll order again when my first roll is nearing its end!

Works well and can be reused -- but leaves only a faint image
I'm usually just painting directly from life; but for those times that I want to transfer a particular sketch I've made to the canvas, I love this blue Saral transfer paper. It's wax-free so it doesn't alter my paints when I apply them later. Also, unlike traditional carbon paper, there's no powdery mess or smears.I place a length of this blue transfer paper along with an overlay of my prior sketch on top of my easeled canvas and secure it in place with bulldog clamps. I trace over the outlines and important details of my sketch using a pen of a different color ink (so you can tell where you've already traced). When you pull away the transfer paper and sketch, the blue image left behind is faint but detectable. If I'm going to be applying an overall wash or imprimatura in a darker color prior to painting, I'll trace over the blue lines with a black or brown fine-point permanent ink marker that will show through the stain of the imprimatura.Because Saral's blue version is non-photographic, it's not necessary to clean off the blue image before your in-progress work goes before the camera. Saral makes the transfer paper in other colors, too (white, yellow, red, and standard graphite). I also like the white version for use on dark surfaces.

True, 100% Erasable, Graphite Transfer Paper
Not all graphite transfer papers are created equally. It has been very frustrating to purchase “graphite” paper that is “erasable” only to find out it is not, in fact, erasable at.all.Saral graphite transfer paper does exactly what it claims, “erases like pencil”; FINALLY!!!There is no downside/con I’ve found Saral graphite paper to have. No longer do I have to worry about my hand/arm causing a smudge, I simply erase the smudge and it’s GONE!It works well for all my various projects from painting to pyrography. I highly recommend this product, it’s legit!!

Works well to transfer images and Erase is just fine
This paper proves to be very effective. I used to use a very soft lead pencil too dark in the back of my paper and then transfer. This paper is not only easier it’s a much cleaner process. I have found that the marks left erase just as easily as any pencil marks. So far I have used just a 12 inch portion of the papertoo copy 5 drawing or photos to watercolor paper. I will be buying this product again.

Perfect for Pumpkin Carving
Believe it or not, I use this for carving pumpkins. We carve around 100 REAL pumpkins every year at our home, and putting the patterns on the pumpkins is the hardest part. Those silly little dotters they give you in the packages are a joke! A friend of mine told us this would work, so we put it to the test. Not only does the blue transfer and show up perfectly on a pumpkin, but the same cut sheet can be used about 5 - 7 times, so we get a lot of use out of one roll! I can honestly say I have not used it for anything else yet, but it works great on transfering stencils and patters to both real pumpkins and foam pumpkins!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP2LVnGxiww
