Seems well constructed.
This item seems to be well made. it's much heavier than the stock door handle. The install however sucked. It's not the fault of this vendor, it's the fault of GM who couldn't have made this much more difficult. Unless you have the hands of a 3yr old, getting the top nut back on is nearly impossible. There are multiple rods going near where this handle installs, so you have to be careful to make sure the handle is not crossed with one of them. Getting it installed on the door was not too difficult, but getting the top nut back on took almost an hour. Maybe longer. So far, I'm happy with this. We will see how it holds up compared to the OEM version.

Safari door handle review and installation
The handle works great after I replaced the plastic linkage snap with the one from the old handle. The new one was too big and never would have stayed in place. This installation was very hard and I had to figure out how every thing went in and worked without rubbing against the window track and door lock linkage parts. No videos or good information was available on the web that was helpful. You could not get an image with a camera or a video of this installation because everything was inside the door frame and hidden from view. You have to feel to find, remove and replace the two nuts ( I think they were 10mm) that hold the door handle on. I did do some grinding on the moving parts of this handle for extra clearance and used some good waterproof grease to lube the working parts. One thing I can tell ya is to make sure you put the working parts of the handle (from the outside) around and on the other side of the covered door lock linkage. This is not an easy task, but it can be done. You can get a peek through the plastic hole cover next to the door latch. I did loosen the latch by taking 3 star screws out for a little better view, but don't try to disengage any of the other door linkage. It is not necessary. After installation, It works smooth and easy. GOOD LUCK with your installation.Hollwood

Fits and works just fine. Little hint for installation
Fits and works just fine.Little hint for installation. Do not need to disconnect or remove the lock cylinder from key hole beneath the handle.Bottom 10mm mounting nut is easy to access, so fasten it first when installing. The 10mm nut on top is a whole new matter, may be difficult to thread it onto the bolt because its pretty much impossible to get two fingers in there (no pun). After a few failed attempts at that, I used a little bit of super glue to glue the nut onto one finger as was able to get it on the bolt, just don't use too much glue, as you'll need to pull your finger free afterwards. Hope this helps. Finally, on handles that feel like they are about to fail, try spraying WD40 inside the hinge of the handle. Will make the handle work like new again. I found out about this a little too late.

Perfect fit for 2000 GMC Safari passenger door, but be warned - difficult installation
This is a standard replacement door handle for the passenger side door of a 1995-2005 modelGMC Safari/ Chevy Astro. It fits perfectly, BUT be aware that the replacement of this handle is difficult at best! Do NOT attempt to replace this handle unless you've got good tools and time on your hands - and I would recommend enlisting the help of another person to hold flashlights, guide wrenches, etc. Replacement took my brother and I close to an hour of time, most of it spent trying to figure out how to get the old handle loose before putting the new handle back in.Replacement can be accomplished with little more than a set of metric open-end wrenches, but I would also recommend a good narrow-blade standard screwdriver and a very bright flashlight. And small hands.

Works great, smooth, feels good.
This is the third door handle I've put on my van. The OEM was broken when someone tried to break in to the van, and the replacement was an inexpensive (non-OEM) part that always felt kind of weak and "scratchy" (i.e. when you pulled the handle, it felt as if there was sand in the mechanism) and just was not confidence-inspiring. After a couple of years, the replacement handle literally snapped at the hinge area, so I looked for another replacement (sigh!). I saw this Depo part on Amazon, and the reviews were good, along with a good price, so I bought it. I got it installed fairly quickly (practice makes perfect!) and I am absolutely pleased with the operation. It feels smooth and strong - no wobbling, scratching or other odd behaviors, and the door opens with a very nice light touch, compared to the previous handle. I'd highly recommend this product.

A Good Replacement
I Got this Handle pretty quick & it was much cheaper & better looking than the one I could of got at my local parts place. This Handle looks to be better made than the one that needed replacinng. It was a little tricky to change it out. I would say that you would need to know a little about autos before attempting to do this job. Otherwise everything went well. My door now opens up real good from the outside & I no longer have to go through the passenger door in order to open the driver's side door from the inside. Whew, that's a relief.
