i Cafilas Stainless Steel Reusable Capsule Refillable Crema Coffee Capsule Pod With Reusbale Lid Compatible for Nespresso Machines

Super well made / high quality, produces a good crema, and I’m also surprised if fits perfectly into the Nespresso Pixie I have (unlike some third party disposable coffee capsules).Just note: these pods make one shot / they are more restretto sized due to not having as much room for coffee.I’ve been using one for 4 weeks now with no problems. It took a little experimenting to get the amount of coffee and tamping just right.To figure out what grind size to use, I opened up an official Nespresso espresso capsule and took it to my local roaster / Groundworks Coffee in LA so they could see how super fine the grind should probably be. They said that Nespresso used a “Turkish coffee” grind size (the finest setting their machines can grind which is a smaller grind than “espresso” grinds) and so I tried that. I think the original plastic Nespresso capsules have more water flow and so it might work a little better to go with a true espresso grind.So far, this is working great. I appreciate it because I get to make fresh, high-end coffee, support my local roasters, and don’t have to recycle disposable pods (because even all the processes of recycling pods is a lot of waste /carbon heavy). Was a little messy at first but I’m getting in down to a quick science using a measuring teaspoon. Will probably buy one more for guests and the Nespresso sized tamper. Still surprised this works as it does and produces the same quality shot when I make a side by side comparison with a Nespresso branded capsule. This and the tamper will definitely be a Christmas gift to a lot of friends and family this Christmas. I will update though, if I have any problems with it down the road.UPDATE:A year later.I still use these daily and love them. One hack I discovered is that if you use the disposable/recyclable aluminum lids or paper lids (sold on ebay) / seals there is more room left for the coffee (vs the thicker stainless steel lid) and the final coffee is darker and with a thicker crema. Also after countless uses the black rubber seals around the lip of the capsule do break. Ihave found replacement seals on here from Recaps (they look like little yellow silicone washers).Recaps also sells aluminum recyclable lids that fit also. Like the paper lids sold on ebay the best.Also discovered that making sure the water reservoir is 80 to 100% full somehow seems to help get the right pressure through these pods. When the later level is low, you get a super / too short pour.Lastly Philz Coffee in Los Angeles and San Francisco makes the perfect sized pre ground espresso grind for these pods. Just make sure the bag indeed says espresso.UDATE: I have since tried the Recaps and seal pods brand capsules (bought in 2023 versions) and like them the best now because the flat bottom leaves even more room for a tiny extra coffee.

Makes a slightly weaker cup or drink than a regular pod sold for the machine would be.Obviously this is used to save money, so I just counter the weaker taste with using a stronger blend.I pack it tight and use the heal of the white plastic scoop provided to tamp it down in cup before closing.Works in nespresso delonghi with milk frother machine. I mostly use to make expresso latte macchiatos with the machine with my own flavored syrup in it too so this is totally fine for what I’m using it for.You have to then open the pod, toss the grounds in your garden, then rinse it out. It’s so easy to clean as it’s just stainless steal.I did have a ground or two at the bottom of my cup but it wasn’t excessive and didn’t bother me.You do make a slight mess packing it- works best over a placemat.Good investment if you have the product for inside.I bought mostly to save money- but has the added bonus of being a very sustainable practice. I don’t always empty a coffee pod for garden but something about this already needing to be cleaned out has me wanting to reuse the grounds by throwing them outside.Overall I’d recommend it.

The media could not be loaded. Works well at first. Doesn’t taste as good as the real pods but that’s expected.After a few weeks it seems water can barely get thru it. When it brews I get droplets instead of a steady stream of coffee. (I have a video but I can only upload 1 per review.)It also no longer goes in as it’s supposed to. It just falls thru to the rubbish bin. (I have two, I believe only one is doing this.[for now]) it’s also a bit messy.These are reusable to a point. I would call them “less disposable” because even tho they’re in good shape they don’t work as advertised.Expensive Trash.

I picked up iCafilas pretty much assuming I would get an acceptable product but that it was not going to get the perfect cup the Nespresso pods produce. I was correct.First observation is that upon taking the foil off of the nespresso pod its clear that that amount of coffee will not fit in the iCafilas, so clearly the result could not be the same.The entry point for the steam differs as does the exit point , so there are texture differences in the brew.There is also a filter in the entry side of the Nespresso pod that must have an effect on the cup produced.So what you get with the iCafilas is an acceptable cup of black coffee that is made in the espresso method.I even went so far as to pack the iCafilas with the coffee from the Nespresso pod. The iCafilas did not produce a cup of coffee that approached the Nespresso pod for texture , aroma or flavor, even using the Nespresso coffee.I'm going to continue using the iCafilas , it does a good job of using the Nespresso machine to produce black coffee, its doing a good job, but does not replicate the Nespresso pod experience . Its cheaper and more green environmentally , but the coffee it produces does not compare to the product provided by a Nespresso Pixi and a Nespresso pod.

I purchased this product and have to return it. It has great build quality, made from stainless steel, however it's very hard to get the right amount of coffee. Too little and you get basically water. Too much and the coffee ground exploded all over the machine. I had to clean my machine several times. You cannot get the same amount of coffee ground filled as normal Nespresso pods.

At first I was sceptical about this gadged, but was drawn by the idea of re-using the capsule.To my surprise, it worked great. I was able to prepare a delicious coffee, smooth and rich. And the most fun part is that you get to choose your coffee brand and flavor to your personal liking - and in the process of handling and preparing you see, touch and smell the delicious aroma of the coffee powder.The only lesson is, don't hurry to retrieve the hot capsule as soon as it finishes brewing. Let it sit for a few minutes to cool down.Ahh, very easy to clean. Win-win
