Works like a charm
The Shake-n-Wake watch does exactly what I need it to do, with a minimum of fuss and easy set-up. The directions weren't the most clear I've ever read, but I didn't have any real trouble setting it up.I am a very light sleeper - every little noise wakes me up at night, and once I'm up, I have a hard time getting back to sleep. On the weekends, I can wear earplugs to bed and get a good night's sleep, but if I do that during the week, I can't hear my alarm clock in the morning. The Shake-n-Wake has completely solved my sleeping problems. I can now wear my earplugs at night and sleep without interruption, and the gentle vibration of the watch wakes me up in the morning with no problem. The unit is a bit bulky - the alarm part itself is about the size of a magnetic kitchen timer, and clips to a velcro band you wear around your wrist - but I haven't had any discomfort from it, nor has it fallen off in the middle of the night. It was well worth the reasonable price, and I would recommend it to anyone who can't use a regular alarm clock.

How I Almost Got Fired: Because This is Junk
I hate this product. Here's why: an alarm only does me good when it goes off. Guess what, it didn't. It works 90% of the time, sure, but I personally need an alarm that will wake me up whenever I need it too. Instead, this terrible device caused me to be late today for work. I'm in a huge amount of trouble, and I'm very upset. So upset, in fact, I decided to write this review in the hopes that I can warn anyone reading this of the lesson I should have learned a long time ago: don't trust your job to an alarm that costs less than twenty bucks. That's the general statement. Honestly, you should immediately stop reading and look elsewhere, but here's my full thoughts on the product. When the "Shake-N-Wake" arrived I was very happy with the comfortable band, but I was surprised that the alarm was not attached to it, but rather the lip of the alarm slides into an elastic loop. It was sturdy, but I realized there was a risk the alarm could slip out in the night. The alarm is very bulky, but not uncomfortable. The problem with bulky is that it can bump on anything if you move while you sleep (move at all). The set-up is very confusing, until you realize half the features don't work. What do I mean by that? Well, there's a blinking list of the days of the week on the top, but it DOES NOT set alarms by the day. The instructions even mention to ignore the feature as it doesn't do anything. It says that. I wish I still had the tiny instructions because I laughed for nearly an hour on how it told me too ignore a malfunctioning feature.Oddly enough it never slipped out! Instead, the entire lip piece simply bent off. I decided to screw the alarm directly into the band, but the plastic was so cheap the screws simply broke off with the plastic. I then placed it under my pillow and the vibration woke me up alright. The vibrating mode was the reason I got the Shake-N-Wake (imagine that,) and it worked when it went off. 10% of th time it WOULDN'T go off. Today, I returned to discover that the small switch on the side that turns off the vibration and turns on the soft beep (like a watch alarm) had gone off. Now, the alarm is so quiet I normally don't hear it, but remember, I had the device under my pillow because it had destructed itself to the point of not functioning. All in all, it lasted barely 3 months and failed me about 5 times, today being the worst of it.As soon as I finish I will be looking for a better product to order, and when that arrives, I will smash this stupid device into oblivion. I apologize for my informal speech, but this piece of junk is going to burn in the fiery pits of Mordor by the time I'm though. Please run away from this page and block this item to save your job (unless you want to buy it for the ridiculous instructions or if you happen to need a cheap plastic you can peel away for your art projects.

I Recommend this alarm, but here is my honest feedback (warts and all)
Let me cut to the punchline.I use this alarm because IT WORKS. It has changed my life for the better.I am hearing impaired. When not wearing my hearing aids (every night) I cannot hear a standard audible alarm. My old method for waking up was: 1) set alarm for 4:30 AM. 2) alarm sounds and wakes wife. 3) Wife kicks me to wake me up to turn off alarm. This method worked well for a long time. She never complained (bless her heart), but I sure felt like a jerk waking her up so early every morning. I was also faced with a serious dilemma every time she was not there when I needed to wake up.This alarm solved all of that.Pros:1) This thing works. The vibration is very strong. I am a very deep sleeper and this thing is strong enough to pull me from even the best dreams.2) This clock is very affordable.3) Battery life is amazingly good.Cons:[As with all alarm clocks I've had in my life, I have a love-hate relationship with this thing too.]1) Controls: A standard complaint is the unnecessarily complicated and non-intuitive method for adjusting this thing. As an engineering making a living designing electronics, this thing makes me growl in disgust at whoever designed the controls (Come on man, you're making the rest of us look bad!) So yes, keep the instruction book handy.2) Snooze: I confess, I love the snooze button (What? It's 4:30 AM! Cut me some slack!). This alarm has a 5-minute snooze button that works as many times as you care to push it. Watch out though, there are 4 buttons on this thing. Any of the other buttons turn the alarm off. Sometimes in my sleep-hazed stupor, I feel like I'm trying to figure out if I should clip the red wire or the green wire on explosive device strapped to my arm. Don't choose the wrong one! You might get some extra sleep, but you'll also be late for work.3) Weak clip: The plastic clip that hooks the alarm to the wrist strap is not very strong. After a few months of use, I found that sometimes in the night, the alarm would fall off the strap. Sure, a sudden vibration in my armpit will wake me up fine, but the time it fell off onto the floor wasn't very helpfull. Eventually I put a piece of strong tape over the end of the clip to prevent is from falling off. My clip finally broke and I had to replace the alarm.4) Bulky: This thing is large and bulky. I'm certain the clip was weakened over time by normal tossing and turning. If you ever wake up with your arm under your pillow, you'll understand. Put this on and try that little maneuver and you'll encounter some seriouse resistance.5) Unreliable: I hate to even say this for fear you won't purchase this alarm because of it, but about once every 2 or 3 months, this alarm just doesn't work for me. I wake up (late) and find that the alarm is set just like it should be, but I didn't wake up on time. It is most likely that I turned off the alarm in my sleep (see "Snooze" complaint), or was possibly inadvertantly pressing one of the other buttons in my sleep (the buttons are recessed to help prevent that). Bottom line is that I still keep my old alarm/wife/kick/wake-up as a backup just in case. I set my old alarm for several minutes later than this alarm. 99% of the time everything works fine, but that backup has saved me several times over the past couple years.Even though I have far more Cons than Pros, I still love this alarm. It has seriously changed my life for the better.
