Mind Full to Mindful: Zen Wisdom From a Monk's Bowl Review: An enjoyable and educative read... - Mind Full to Mindful is an inspiring book laced with thought-provoking nuggets and captivating anecdotes. The premise of the book is simple - ultimate peace and contentment can be attained by keeping things simple and by treating life with care. The author serves this to you with artistic garnishing (through a table of contents that is aptly called "The Zen Menu”). This book is an easy read thanks to the crisp content and narrative. It provides practical techniques as well as the theoretical foundation that will motivate you to undertake this journey. It is packaged with an interesting mix of subjects ranging from relatively esoteric and thought-provoking concepts (such as the Nature of things), to practical tips about prioritization and wise usage of time. As a side-note, this book has a few typos. While that’s only a minor distraction, there definitely is an opportunity for proofreaders to fix these typos in the next edition of this book. Overall Mind Full to Mindful is an enjoyable and educative read and, if the teachings are sincerely adopted, it has the potential to change lives. Review: Mind blowing Zen wisdom - Another book of amazing and priceless wisdom from Om Swamiji! The knowledge and understanding of Zen (or Zazen) has been long forgotten at the place of its origin, but this book fills up the gap of the lost centuries and offers such deep and valuable insight into one of the most beautiful form of meditation. Simply written and sprinkled with His hallmark humor all over...nicely includes the forms, teaching, aspects, virtues and principles of Zen meditation/wisdom...offers the bonus of hilarious illustrations as well. (one of my favorites - " Buddha: I should have made one of those nobody-can-depict-me rules. They always make me fat. Jesus: Tell me about it. I have been a blond, white dude for, like, 2000 years") :)) Very highly recommended!!!

Zen, summed up
Excellent synopsis of the Zen philosophy, which paradoxically, at least from my POV, can seem complicated. Om Swami sums it up very nicely, my favorite nugget being this method of building mindfulness in your daily life. Ask yourself this question as many times as you can during the day and experience the benefits of mediation, without sitting for it. "What am I doing right now?" - now answer the question, "I am writing a review", or "I am day dreaming" now ask "what should I be doing right now" Finally, do what you should be doing. Easy, huh?...but actually, it's super hard to be mindful all the time

it was like a revelation to me
Swamiji has the same message always ofcourse, connect with your source, but I felt that in this book he somehow touched the vulnerability of being a human in more ways than before. This book talks about one's inability to breathe, walk, eat, or live mindfully. And somehow wants to make yourself forgive that tendency and continue to strive without really striving. Emphasis on maintaining your physical health was phenomenal, it was like a revelation to me. I am confident there are millions of people in the same boat as I am. Wanting something, but not having a clear plan, and not doing anything to execute it, and having the stress of not doing it eat you up alive! Swamiji gives hope that it is not too late, and gives very practical suggestions to accomplish it. Swamiji is compassionate, and extremely humble. He does not hesitate to share his own struggles with simple tasks such as writing the weekly post, or trying to fall asleep. Ofcourse, his struggles with falling asleep have to do with an acute sense of awareness and awakening, and mine seem to be because of being lost in the forest of thoughts, and in the fog of confusion. But we do have something in common:) Thank you Swamiji.

One of the best books I have read.
I loved the simplicity, the humor, and of course a very deep message on how to simplify one's life, yet make it meaningful. A recipe for leading a meaningful and joyful life. I love this author.

So many people crave being spiritual, others run away from it thinking it may lead them to become a sanyasi. Spirituality is slowly taking the shape of some religion but what we don’t know is that spirituality is not a set of rituals to follow to get somewhere, to get to some place. It is doing nothing. It is being yourself, doing nothing, not dying to reach a stage and simply flowing with life. Everybody, in some or the other aspect of life is very spiritual, knowingly or unknowingly. Mind Full To Mindful is a book based on the teaching of Buddha and Zen. It teaches you the art of being spiritual and calm and peaceful by following the “no rituals or dogma following” policy. It includes a few types of zen meditation that change our perception towards meditation. It also comprises of a few Zen elements that we can incorporate in our lives and lead a happy, peaceful and mindful life. Mindfulness is the top most priority of this book. The title of this book is witty and relevant to the content of the book. I, personally, have become so calm, comparatively less stressed and very mindful about the tasks I do. The cover of the book is very eye-catchy and the book does justice to it. You won’t regret buying the book because of it’s peaceful cover and not learn how you can be peaceful. The language is so not monk-like. The author is a monk, which may lead you to think that the words used in the book will all go above your comprehensive capacity but it is not so. It has easy words, a lot of humour and a lot of tips and tricks. This monk-ish book is my favorite monk-ish book in terms of language. The content focuses on mindfulness, gratitude, peace and spirituality. It breaks the myths we have for spirituality, teaches us love, compassion, and mediations like Zazen etc. However, at some points in the book, some impractical things (for the competitive world) is mentioned and may not be easy for you to implement in your life. My opinion on this book is clear - it is my favorite mindful book. I have already started wearing a beads bracelet on my hand to remind myself to be mindful all the time, I have quit multi-tasking and surprisingly, I have started producing more. Except for some impractical concepts (which are very few), I love the book and would definitely recommend it to the people who need peace in life and think that spirituality is a tough nut to crack.
