Silver Lake Fishing Flies Assortment

I now own a number of Orvis, Umpqua and a few other 'better' brand flies from smaller outfits such as Miller Fly Shop, Barnsley and others. However, when I was first starting out, I purchased this fly assortment. For the most part, there are very, very few flies that you would otherwise find in assortment packs fromLL Bean, Orvis, White River and others. These are just a bunch of quickly tied flies (probably in China, mind you); nearly all are dry flies. The colors and patterns on 90% of these are NOT that common, although you can use them for practicing your false casts (recommend you snip the hook though for that).If you are buying this thinking you'll be able to use the box as well, don't. The box is extremely thin plastic and will break (if not already broken). Do yourself a favor and invest in a real fly box--even a beginner one.

As a non-professional fly fisher and not knowing the multiple nuts or methods used to tie flies I find this group does the job and how can you beat the cost.With some flies selling for around $20 each this is an unbeatable deal. Sure the seasoned fly fisher may object and purists may have a problem that’s okay with me but until someone can show me how the fish can tell the difference in the flies this package serves the purpose for me very well.

I like the assortment in this set better than the smaller which I bought but quality is still low and some of the colors are not natural looking or appropriate for fishing with. I think these are great for people to fish with especially kids and beginners but for those who have been fly-fishing for a while and know what else is out there these are just average and are only getting 4 stars for value of quantity and I would say 3 stars for a product.

In this case, my title is vice versa. Whatever horrible fly tier that decided to sell these, did not have "Customer Satisfaction" in mind... CLEARLY. Basically, it all comes down to this.... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! So don't be cheap, visit your local Orvis outlet or fly shop if you actually intend to catch something!!!

Nice assortment of little flies in all different colors. These are going to be my backup flies and ones to try when nothing is working. Haven't had them in the water yet to see if they act the way they should, like dry flies that don't sink. Very inexpensive for so many flies. Won't mind handing a few over to the kids who manage to lose a few on every trip.

Exactly as described. Durable and look, cast, and function great. Have not had any issues with flies coming untied or undone. Have purchased other flies from South Bend and am happy with all of them.Colors are great and provide you with a wide selection for the beginner or even intermediate fly fisher.

Lots of Fishing Flies, They look cool but they are tiny. I like them bigger for steelhead and salmon. They are not well tied I usually get 5 to 6 casts before they fall apart and unravel. There are so many of them and the price is reasonable. These are great when I want to test out a different color or style.

This is an excellent collection of inexpensive flies. For those of us who like to get out and thrash the water, but don't have the money for designer tackle, these are very serviceable. The flies are well finished and quite good enough to lure the finicky finned friends.
