Not my Go-To book for Plant Based cooking, recipes are often a little off
I have been WFPB for over 6 months now and there is some great information in this book. Something that was important to me was making sure a WFPB diet was sustainable and that means having a variety of foods to choose from so I do not get sick of having the same thing over and over. There always seems to be something a little off with the recipes in this book. Unfortunately, you never know what they are until your just about to finish completing the meal. It also lacks pictures of the recipes that other Plant Based cookbooks contain. We often eat with our eyes first, so it really hurts the effectiveness of picking something to make, especially when we are not familiar with a particular delicacy.A couple of examples where the recipes kind of fall short - made the Mac and No-Cheese, ok recipe/casserole, but there was nowhere near enough no-cheese sauce for dish.Made the tomato soup recipe - said it feeds 4, there was barely enough for 3 meals which was disappointing because it was very good!Pesto sauce - WAY too much garlic.Mushroom Stroganoff - Again, not enough sauce. You end up with a lot of noodles and a splash of sauce. The recipes are some kind of mix of too much/not enough and you will not know until it's too late. This can be very frustrating and could potentially deter someone for advancing their plant based diet. For comparison, I have had a great experience with Kim Campbell's PlantPure Nation cookbook and Rip Esselstyn's Plant Strong Recipe book. I recommend these two books for starting your WFPB journey opposed to the Forks Over Knives cookbook. I have had a lot of success with their recipes and may come back to this when I need something new to try.

Soy, soy, and more soy
Purchased this when I saw it was on sale (Kindle edition). Started looking through the recipes and immediately returned for a refund. I am cutting out all dairy but I can't tolerate soy. Even if I could eat it I don't think I would. Most of the soybean crops grown today are GMO (I kept hearing this term and finally did a little research and watched a couple documentaries - scary s**t). It also, from what I understand, contains a chemical that mimics hormones. I don't know the specifics but I know the two women at work that had breast cancer were told by their doctors not to eat it, and it has been blamed for early puberty in children. And it also contains anti-nutrients that keep you from absorbing nutrients. It is not the super health food it was once thought to be. From what I saw of this cookbook it relies heavily on soy products.I also purchased a cookbook from Thug Kitchen. While I could do without the swear words, the recipes look great and I think I saw one recipe with soy out of the dozens I looked at.

Just what I wanted
I wanted a plant based recipe book that could show me all the various ways plants can be used. Also I love oil, but I wanted to try oil-free, sugar-free cooking. To my delight, the recipes are so tasty. I love to cook, so exploring this cookbook is like a fun adventure for me. Some of the ingredients were not in my local grocery store, but I found them in my local organic grocery store or here on Amazon. It’s such fun and I have enjoyed all the food and this plant-based lifestyle so far.

This is a must read for those of you who have always failed at losing weight or just want a better health profile
I've followed the recipes in this book/plan very closely for over 12 weeks now and I've lost 47 lbs. This is a must read for those of you who have always failed at losing weight or just want a better health profile. You won't be disappointed!

Disappointing cookbook
I am plant based in my food choices but this cookbook was a disappointment. I’m not interested in recipes that call for so many ingredients and sauces, dressings, and concoctions that have to be made before you can complete it. Simple is way better and these recipes are far from simple.

Careful if you are an autoimmune eater. I am ...
Careful if you are an autoimmune eater. I am allergic to nightshades and coconut and this book had the majority of the recipes with these two ingredients. Also, a very long ingredients list for most things. If you are busy look for healthy meals that take under 20 minutes to prepare, this is not the book for you!

The Author likes spicy food.
I really like the vast majority of recipes available in this book. Some are really complicated to make. I have noticed that most of the recipes I come across are geared for those with a taste for really spicy food. This works for me because I like spicy food. Many of the recipes do call for some very expensive ingredients, even if you are a really thrifty shopper.

Same recipes over and over with slight variations
Might as well title this 300 recipes for quinoa. I mean I like quinoa, but geez, the recipes continue to repeat themselves with slightly different versions of the same thing.

Boring, tasteless, deprived vegan food - other than the desserts
I found this book very disappointing. First, it's very much a health-food book, far more than a vegan book. No salt, no sugar, no oil, etc. As a vegetarian who recently transitioned to vegan, this was not what I wanted at all, especially since I have to cook for a meat-eating husband and the last thing he wants is this kind of rabbit-food stereotypical 'vegan' fare. Second, there is at least one ingredient in every single recipe that I can't obtain - I live in France and can't just pop down to my nearest 'Korean town' or 'Asian supermarket' because they don't exist here, and there are no suggestions for substitutes. Third, like many books published in the US, all the measures are American - this matters less when it's in cups, as I have a cup measure, but it's annoying to have to look up all the conversions constantly from ounces to grams and fahrenheit to celsius. I finally managed to find a recipe in the book that I could do with ingredients I could actually obtain, and it took quite a bit of effort to chop everything, and then it tasted exactly like Campbell's Scotch Broth out of a tin - a total waste of time. I will be keeping this book only for the dessert recipes, which are by another author.

Heart disease can be reversed
I watched this DVD after discharging myself from hospital which wanted me to have a bypass. It was part as finding out as much as I could about heart attacks and Forks over Knives proved invaluable. It led my to Caldwell Esselstyn and Professor Campbell and have since read all their books. I have now been on the whole foods plant based way of eating for 18 months with no serious heart symptoms. My cholesterol is 3.8 with no statins. It is a great shame that the NHS and British Heart Foundation do not even mention this peer reviewed treatment as an option. It is obviously not for everyone who has cardiovascular disease but I suspect a significant minority would go for it once they learn that it can be a complete cure. The NHS could also save a lot of money. At first the diet seems a real blow as there are foods that have to be given up but over time tastebuds begin to change and the food begins to taste lovely. So much of the standard western diet is addictive. I just watch these addictions pass and they always do . The trade off is a much improved sense of well being.Eat to Live or Live to eat. What a good question!Eat to live or live to eat. What a good question.

A vegan must have!
My favourite vegan cookbook so far! The reason I love it so much is that the recipes are so healthy and tasty. Most vegan cookbooks are full of things that you could never make everyday either because of practically or health. This book is different. Highly recommended 👍

Best vegan cookbook
I decided to go plant based two years ago for health reasons but to find tasty recipes after eating SAD for many years was difficult. I bought a few vegan recipe books but this one is by far the best. The recipes are easy and tasty with every day ingredients. There are a few photos in the centre of the book, some people like photos with every recipe, I don't care as long as the recipe does not take hours to put together. I will recommend this for everybody who wants to make healthy and tasty recipes

Great book, just not set for for my brain.
I know this book is supposed to be incredible, so I want to be sure that my review is my own personal opinion, has to do more with how it's set up than anything else. But for me, the set up of the book has turned me off so much that I really never use it. I think that, if you only look at the contents pages, it might be ok, but I'm the type that likes to open up and just find the main dishes, or whatever, and find what I'm looking for. So for me, the way the book seems to be overly organised into sections is just too much for the spontaneous person I am. I mean, there's a section for grain salads, one for bean salads, and one for vegetable salads (with a kick, as it claims), yet the grain salads have beans included, and all the recipes have vegetables. The same goes for the mains, recipes with grains, and recipes with beans separate, yet some of the bean recipes have grains (Cuban- style black beans with cilantro rice; Mujadara- lentils with rice and caramelized onions; etc.), and vice versa where the grain dishes (in their own separate category) have beans ( wild rice, cabbage and chickpea pilaf, for example).I don't know, maybe it's just me having a problem, but it's enough that I really don't use the book, though I do want to. Maybe it could have helped had there been more photos, there's a small section of photos in the middle of the book. Yes, this boom l book is organised but just a bit too organised for me.*please, don't let my review turn you away from this book. Especially if you're looking to eat healthier, and take care of yourself. This book is especially excellent for that reason!!!
