From the first time I took it, this supplement gave me distinctive effects of stimulation, sense of well-being, decreased stress, and calmness (not in a sedating way - in an alert way). I did not have high hopes, as I have dabbled in many various supplements, medications, nootropics and drugs in my quest to combat depression and chronic fatigue, and I have been disappointed many times. Not so with Rhodiola Rosea. The first two weeks or so were incredible - my fatigue was lifted, I felt alert, calm and happy. I felt more human than I've felt in a while. The effects were subtle, but distinctly present. It was excellent. I took one capsule immediately upon waking, and roughly every other day I would take a second one sometime after lunch. My friend and I have both independently taken note of the incredibly fast onset of the effects - perhaps 5-15 minutes. Some days I took it after a meal and still felt the effects. Unfortunately, and much to my disappointment, I began to build a tolerance around the second week. The third week I tried taking two pills at once and up to three in a day, with little to no noticeable effects. I laid off for a week, and tried them again. I may feel it slightly but at nowhere near the degree of those first tow glorious weeks. I'm hoping that in time my body will reset and I can use them to their full effectiveness again. They really did help me be a better person. Of course such substances will affect various people differently, and you may have more or less luck than I did. But I must say the two weeks that it worked for me were entirely worth the cost of the product, and I am happy I found this supplement. I recommend trying it. I took it upon myself to write this review because I believe this product has the potential to help other people like it helped me. I hope you get more sustained benefits from it. Side note: This product seemed to be synergistic with caffeine, making caffeine's benefits more pronounced and its undesired effects less prominent. (soda/tea-doses around 20-50mg)

Works great for my anxiety

Rhodiola rosea is a herb in the rhodiola genera (Crassulaceae family) which has traditional usage as an anti-fatigue agent and Adaptogen compound, and rhodiola is likely the second most popular adaptogen (second only to Panax ginseng). In regards to fatigue, rhodiola appears to be able to significantly reduce the effects of prolonged and minor physical exhaustion that results in fatigue. This is more related to stress and the 'burnout' effect, or prolonged but low intensity physical exercise. There is some limited evidence that parameters of physical exercise can be improved with rhodiola, but this appears to be limited to untrained persons with numerous studies on trained athletes suggesting that rhodiola does not have an acute ergogenic effect. Despite this, rhodiola appears to be highly reliable in reducing fatigue symptoms and improving symptoms of stress (and secondary to that, well-being) in persons fatigued from non-exercise related stressors. Rhodiola can improve cognitive functioning in persons who experience a reduction in fatigue, but there is insufficient evidence to support an outright increase in cognition (which should occur in non-fatigued persons) and not enough studies have assessed cognitive decline for conclusions to be made. Other potential uses of rhodiola include preliminary evidence that it is highly neuroprotective against toxins (requires more evidence) and that ingestion of rhodiola or its active component can reduce stress-induced binge eating in female rats. In the brain, rhodiola appears to be highly serotonergic (increases serotonin) and reduces corticosteroids; the inhibition of monoamine oxidases (MAOs) commonly attributed to rhodiola may not be relevant following oral ingestion of rhodiola, however.

Just started taking this brand of Rhodiola rosea. Rhodiola rosea is reputed to be a male enhancement herb. As an "adaptogen" is is considered generally beneficial to the organism (for a variety of reasons). It is also supposed to relieve fatigue, improve attention span, improve memory and enhance immune function.So far I like it a lot. I have taken it now for a week and am happy to report no ill side effects. I can say I have started to feel a bit more energetic in the mornings after I take it with breakfast. Can't say I'm a raging 19-year old again (yet) but I will update this review in perhaps another month.

I have been taking Rhodiola for several years. I had been under a lot of stress. Day in & day out. 24/7. My doctor suggested I give it a try...it was one of the best things I could have done. I was frustrated because this product Swanson web site didn't ship to California. That's why I've ordered it on Amazon.com where it was a little more expensive.This order was shiped on time. Important: I am taking this product for 2+ weeks and doesn't feel ANY effect I have experienced before taking adaptogens: no increased energy, concentration, or stamina. It's my personal observation.
