Clarity
They sent me a defective telescope and it look a long time for a replacement until Amazon stepped in. The second one was great. Now I am waiting for them to tell me what is the best tripod for it as it is quite heavy and has a two screw bas. Still waiting for that information

Nikon must have read the reviews as the unit I just purchased has a very sturdy metal tripod and a very good unit for the price.

Nice scope, terrible stand
I think the scope is nice, but I haven't had a good opportunity to use it. The stand either came broken or broke within the first 30 seconds. Poor quality plastic. Ordering a new stand elsewhere to hopefully get some good use out if the scope. Will update. Update: used the scope a little bit (pictures through scope attached). Pupil relief is a bit of a struggle to get right and makes it a little challenging. The clarity is as nice or better than I could want at this price point The picture through the scope is at 48x magnification and 1x mag on my phone. The picture from further out is at 5x on my phone. That tower is a little over 2 miles away.

NIKON PROSTAFF FIELD SCOPE
LIKES; I LIKE ALMOST EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SCOPE. I BOUGHT IT FOR TARGET SHOOTING. LOVE THE STORAGE/CARRYING BAG THAT COMES WITH IT. ONLY WISH IT HAD YARDAGE READ OUT ON IT, BUT STILL WORKS GREAT FOR THE PRICE. WOULD RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT

Not up to Nikon quality
Expected better from a name like Nikon. Pluses: Scope is small, light. Negatives: Could not get sharp focus. Focus ring hard to turn. Very noticeable chromatic aberrations.

Decent, but poor eye relief.
Eye relief poor for those that use glasses. Useless above about 25 power. It is lightweight and packs well. I like the rear focus and the lense caps. At 16-20 power it works well for long range deer hunting to about a mile in good light. I probably would not buy this again if I had personally experienced the eye relief. You will want a better tripod, but it was what you would expect at this price point. If you don't need to wear glasses this will work pretty well as a backpacking hunting scope.

Not Nikon quality - you can get more for less
I received this as an incentive gift from my company (not via Amazon). I was looking forward to it, but I'm disappointed. First it's Made in China ('nuf said). The quality is good. The carrying case is nice. The image is clear up until about 25x, when the image dims and aberration kicks in. As written elsewhere, the lens adjustments are VERY difficult to move, the tripod is only about 45" tall and not very steady. Pictures here were taken by handheld cellphone camera (so the image is a little better than what shows). The building is about 1.5 miles away, the billboard behind it is around 5000 yds.

Leider ist die Qualität des Glases nicht wirklich gut. Vor allem wenn man die höchste Zoomstufe nutzt bleibt das Bild relativ unscharf.

Very disappointed. I know that some reviews already mentioned that the zoom ring and focus ring were extremely hard to turn and that the centre field of view remained blurry, even while the rest of the field of view was focussed. Both deficiencies also applied to the 'lemon' I received. While the scope in general yields a relatively bright and clear view, this becomes pointless when 1) the centre is always blurry and 2) you cannot adjust the focus and the zoom without jerking the entire scope so much that you lose the bird you are watching. Let me put this in perspective: Last month I also bought a pair of Nikon binoculars (Monarch 5 8x42) which cost less money than this scope and deliver the *e*x*c*e*l*l*e*n*t* quality I would expect of a Nikon product. Very *h*a*p*p*y* with the Nikon binoculars, but absolutely disappointed with the scope. (N.B.: I had to scramble the positive words so that the AI agent will not misinterpret my review....sign of the times, eh?). Maybe I just had bad luck and got a lemon - but that shouldn't have passed Nikon quality inspection.
