A delightful book about the Colonel
There’s probably a very low percentage of people in this world who have not heard of KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken and if they have not tasted it they have at least heard about it - such is the pervasive influence of this essentially American food. And who has not seen the ever smiling face of most probably the most well known, smiling face in the world - Colonel Sanders. The book looks in depth at Colonel Sanders’ life, his struggles and his final success. I guess there is a common thread in most successful people’s life - that is repeated failure and the indomitable spirit to spring back. It was a continuous aspect in Colonel’s life but he didn’t let it affect him at all and got back with renewed determination. The author of this book has rightly zeroed in on the main point that makes the Colonel’s life so inspiring and that makes the book such a great read.

Page Lickin' Good
Watson does a great job with this piece of literature showing who Colonel Sanders is. It's mentioned that five years ago, most people who were in my age bracket (18 - 25) didn't know that Sanders was a real person. In fact, it wasn't until recently that I too discovered that he was an actual person. Who would have thought? Watson goes into depth about who Sanders is, his life story and what inspired him to open up his own fast-food business. After reading the book, I have found myself inspired to put more work in achieving my goal, so that I may attain what I want in life, as Sanders has. I believe this book is a great read, and I recommend this for all ages, as it's an interesting read that allows the audience to understand that Sanders was a real person, with, like all of us, dreams to succeed and become a contributing person of society.

Not detailed
The book did not go into enough depth about his life. The story was a bit choppy. It would be good to know a bit more. I will have to read more about Harland Sanders.

All about the Colonel!
This is a book about the life of Colonel Sanders. It explains many aspects of his life, including his early family life, a list of the many, many jobs he had, and how he came to be known as Colonel. There is information about how he started his restaurant, how it blossomed into KFC, and how big it became. I didn’t know much about him before I read this book, but now that I know how much hardship and setbacks he faced, it makes me admire his perseverance. This book would be great to pick up if you want to know more about Harland Sanders.

It was alright
Wish it went a little deeper. Felt like the narrative stayed on the surface. I didnt know he existed, I thought he was just a character

Good but not great
The story is interesting and I am glad I have learned about this man and the persistence it took for him to be successful. He also had some negative sides to his story but don't we all. My 2 stars reflects the style of the writing. It sees amateurish and almost feels like it was written by someone for whom English is not their first language.

Sorry missed the Inspiration
I was hoping to learn much more about the person than was provided. Thought I was reading a children's story as the style of prose was tough to read.

Fascinating man
The subject is interesting. The book is short, and not well-written.

Not a good purchase
There is no mention of the history of rejections during the two-year road trip he took in the 1950's franchising his recipe.:Here's a snapshot after quickly googling. This is not in the book."With his monetary capital depleted, Sanders realized he could not open another restaurant, but he did realize that with what capital he had he could try to sell rights or franchises to his special recipe, which had been successful at two locations. So, at age 66, when most men would have retired, Sanders hit the road to sell his then not-so-famous recipe. In order to make the sale, Sanders would stop at a restaurant, prepare the chicken free, using the special recipe, and then let the owner decide whether he wished to acquire a franchise. The fee was rather modest—four cents per chicken (later increased to five cents). Sanders often tried the chicken himself after preparing it, so he generally got at least one free meal at each stop. Even early in his attempt to sell franchises, Sanders always looked for a quality restaurant—one that would maintain his reputation for a fine product.""When Colonel Sanders was 65 years old, he received his first social security cheque of US$99 (S$170). He was broke. His only asset was a secret fried chicken recipe. He left his home in Kentucky and travelled to many states in the United States to sell this recipe. He offered his secret recipe to many restaurant owners for free. All he wanted in return was a small percentage of the sales.Over 1,000 restaurants rejected his offer. How many of you would have quit after making one or two unsuccessful sales calls? On his 1,009th sales visit, one restaurant finally accepted his offer.Today, Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets and Colonel Sanders statues are found all over the world. "

what an amazing story of perseverance!
Like someone once said, sometimes the heart knows what the mind does not. So it’s important to listen to your heart and not give up, especially when we fail or face down times. The language in the book may sound a bit different, but i guess this bio was written a long time ago. Happy reading !

to the point
Short and sweet. I’ve read quite a few biographies of business and most of them just state facts and successes of the entrepreneurs. What’s needed is not the success stories, it’s the failures they had to go through to reach the success. This is one book that features Sander’s failures equal to his success. The real meaning of inspirational books. Gonna read more books from this author.
