Turkish Delights: Stunning regional recipes from the Bosphorus to the Black Sea - Kindle edition by Gregory-Smith, John. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading Turkish Delights: Stunning regional recipes from the Bosphorus to the Black Sea. Review: Unique Turkish Cookbook - As a Turkish man myself, I find myself lucky to stumble upon this unique turkish cookbook. The book consists many traditional and regional recipes. Turkish cuisine is mainly formed of imperial palace kitchen and regional kitchen. This book captures both very well. I have noticed the author added an american twist to some recipes, which I found very welcoming. These recipes are dutifully noted, so you can always look up the original recipe if it is not already explained in the book. The book is a great addition to any library that focuses on Turkish cooking. If this is going to be your first Turkish cookbook and you are focusing on only traditional cooking (which has harder to find ingredients or methods), you might want to consider other books. The one that I use: Sultan's Kitchen: A Turkish Cookbook . This doesn't necessarily mean that the book doesn't have enough traditional recipes, it does and on the plus side, it may have more regional recipes than in any Turkish cookbook I've seen. Especially aegean, Black Sea recipes are plenty, which are usually more vegetable and olive oil based than the spicy, tangy eastern region recipes. I also agree with other reviewers who noted that the font blends with background easily. I wish they chose a different font. However, recipe fonts don't have any problems. Review: the recipes are good, authentic AND it offers advice and info -- everything you'd want - I like this not only because the recipes are good and authentic (or so my Turkish friends tell me), but it offers useful advice about what to use as substitutes if you don't have access to a few Turkish spices, plus concise information about the traditions of certain dishes, regional differences, and that sort of thing. Plus, the cover of the cookbook is laminated in a good way so you don't have to worry about getting food on it. Now THERE'S an idea, FGS.

A sprinkling of sun...
Although I really don't mind the winter,a sprinkling of sun in the kitchen is a welcome present. And both the recipes and the photographs (mind you not all the recipes have photographs but most of them...)bring a bit of sunshine in your daily diet. The problem with a lot of "international " cookbooks are the ingredients. How does anyone expect you to find some obscure vegetable or an unheard of spice blend? Well, the author gives you alternatives . For instance certain Turkish cheeses are replaced by feta, cheddar and even mozzarella! Those alternatives and the fact that most recipes are not overly complicated make this a very pleasant introduction to the Turkish cuisine.

Beautiful Book and Excellent Food!
I am really enjoying this cookbook for both the recipes (accessible and tasty) and the history (I am a retired history teacher). I recently used two of the recipes at a family dinner and they were a big hit, high praise from a family that is VERY "un-adventurous" when it comes to trying new foods! I plan to use more of these recipes at future family events!

It's okay
It's an okay cookbook. Didn't knock my socks off. My husband is Turkish and I wanted to be able to cook some things for him. He looked through it and never said a word. Milk Street is the cookbook we are always going to for inspiration and my husband loves cooking from it when I'm not home. I'm not saying this is a bad cookbook, just make sure you check out all options before ordering.

Accurate description, better than expected content.
Many Turkish cookbooks are difficult for a Western kitchen; this is a treat, with excellent pictures and really engaging, very personal text. Hugely enjoyable.
