Delicious sounding recipes
Caution. Don't read on an empty stomach. Didn't recall that these books had so many recipes in them. They constantly interrupt the story. Wish that these were all at the end. I don't like stopping so often to copy the recipes or page through to get to the story again. This one is really far fetched, even though it's supposed to be. This one takes it over the top. Hannah is baking and eating all day long. She would be 500 pounds if she ate this many calories, along with Norman and Mike who both seem to practically live at her condo. Extremely unrealistic. But the mystery part was mildly entertaining. I also like to get audio versions of books and it doesn't work with these, especially if you want the recipes at all. You can't copy fast enough and have to keep stopping and rewinding . She does have some good recipes and prefer the books for that reason.

Ross has gone missing, there’s a lot of money left for Hannah to deal with, the Cookie Jar is doing well. Then Ross is located and has another wife- he says he needs the money to give to her to get a divorce and remarry Hannah. Then it happened!!

Mystery Solved
Lake Eden, Minnesota probably has more murders per capital than any town in the USA. However, because Hannah Swenson lives there, they have not only one of the best bakers in the world, but a natural born detective. She has a mind for solving crimes and the rational thoughts to figure crimes out. These stories keep you on the edge of your seat!!

Chocolate Butterscotch would have been the appropriate reference
This book was my quarantine escape while the library was closed. I do not read this series in order, rather I generally read what the library had on hand. My last read was the wedding cake book so this little character twist brought me great joy. Visiting Hannah's hometown is always a comforting journey and a sweet escape from the news cycle. While we are isolated it is nice to be surrounded by so many friendly characters.IChocolate Cream Pie Murder reads like a cookbook with a story thrown in on the side. 80 percent of the content is recipes and characters talking about recipes. The murder does not take place until the end of the book. The plot surrounding the murder seems contrived and the character speculation is forced and does not flow naturally in the story. Nonetheless this book is an enjoyable afternoon's read. Grab a cozy blanket, your favorite fur friend and a cup of coffee on a rainy afternoon and take a trip to the Cookie Jar.On a series note, I wish the author would add more character focus to Mike and Norman. These are successful men. Surely they have better things to do than to be at Hannah's call 24/7. Let Mike solve a crime once and again. Give Norman more of a social life than Cuddles and cat playdates. Most importantly, so putting Hannah in pantsuits!

I'm Back.
I stopped reading the Hanna Swenson series a few years ago.I became tired of the do I love Norman or do I love Mike thread. Then I needed a book to read for my culinary book club and nothing quite seemed right except Joanne Fluke so I looked through my choices and found Chocolate Cream Pie Murder and it was perfect.Hannah is back to her old self after a disastrous non- marriage. With the support of the town she's putting her life together when she hears from the man who broke her heart. With the whole town gunning for him, when he turns up dead the police aren't lacking for suspects. Naturally Hannah gets involved and as expected things don't go well. After reading this book I now have the desire to go back and continue where I left off in the series. And don't forget the great recipes that are always included.

Great Story, Not So Great Format
I love reading the Hannah Swensen mysteries and Joanne Fluke is one of my favorite authors. In the beginning of the series I felt satisfied after reading because there was a complete story. For this book you would be lost if you had not read the previous book and when the book finished there were unanswered questions that will be addressed in the next book. Also there were a lot of detailed recipes between the chapters that were distracting. I wish the recipes were at the end of the book.As far as the story, Ross returns and this causes Hannah a lot of grief. Actually that about sums it up. There are a lot of dinners with dessert recipes and some of them sound pretty good. It seemed to me that I got a lot of recipes and half a story. But I will read the next one to see what happens!

Recipes belong at the end of the book!
This would have been a more enjoyable reading experience if not for the recipes that bogged down the story. At the end of every chapter was a couple of pages worth (13 pages at one point) of recipes mentioned in the previous chapter. It made it very frustrating and pulled me out of the story each time I had to flick past those darned recipes so I could continue on with what was an okay story.I think if I could have just read the book without interruption I would have liked it more.2.5 stars ⭐️
