Digitally remastered digipak edition of the 1994 debut album from the British Extreme Metal band. While the album is raw, it features a band just finding it's musical feet. Some of Principle's tracks were later re-recorded for V Empire, Bitter Suites to Succubi, and Midnight in the Labyrinth.

Again, Very Opera like
The whole cd tells a tale; one song leads to another. This is truly dark, but not in the typical mainstream hard core sounds you hear today, but this is the way Beethoven would have done it. There's more to it than just hard vocals and thrashing guitar, but the darkness is in the use of real and classical music. If you study music, you know what I mean.

Good Start
CoF was off to a good start with this, their first studio album. Even though they technically aren't Black Metal this album was accepted by Black Metalists around the world as one of the best Black Metal albums of all time.

A fine debut for Cradle of Filth
This debut CD from Cradle of Filth is a bit of a transitional album for the band. In their demo-era, they played very bad and generic (if you ask me) death metal, and on their next few CD's they were symphonic/gothic black metal. Here, we see a kind of crossroads between the two - the band seems to have one foot in the goth/black metal scene (vocals, keyboards, atmosphere, etc.), while the riffs still have a bit of "punch" to them which brings it closer to death than black metal. If you ask me, this is a "blackened death metal" album through and through. As far as the quality of the music, it's all very enjoyable if a bit immature - a lot of interesting ideas playing off each other (death metal riffs + vampire/goth atmosphere) but I'm not sure the execution is at it's best. I'm of the opinion that CoF perfected their sound when they released their third CD, "Dusk and Her Embrace" and fully embraced gothic black metal.

Well composed
Well composed . Awesome riffs and great vocals. Highly recommended and appreciated by people who don't like to catagorize fine music regardless of genre. Appreciate it for the dark atmosphere, great lyrics , and excellent musicianship.

Best Cradle of FIlth Album Hands Down
This is a must have album for Cradle fans. The best album, specially if you are into black metal, Nymphetamine and Thornography fans might not like this though, because those Cradle of FIlth albums were pretty... not themselves.

Hass & Drama pur
Nach "The Shadowthrone" , "Storm of the Light's Bane" und "Stormblast" eines der besten Black Metal Alben aller Zeiten..no shit!
