When I ordered this can opener with smooth edge, I thought I was ordering the type where one can reuse the lid to close the can It is not. It is an improvement of the old type of can opener. Instead of having sharp edge, the edge is smooth BUT cannot reuse the lid. It is okay but I prefer the type with a smooth reusable lid.

So far, it works great, but I was greatly disappointed when I discovered the very, very small print on the box that read "Made In China." I was specifically looking for a can opener made here in the USA and thought that was what I was paying a little more to get.

Great easy grip for opening cans! Better then my old can opener even if it was not what I was looking for when I did my search, now all I have to do it find one that removes the whole top with no sharp snags or edges.Larry B.

I was disappointed with this can opener. It looked good but performs no better than the much cheaper grocery store models. Handles are bigger but mechanism is not smooth and would not open larger cans at all. I can't recommend this one.

Well it worked very well for about a month and then it suddenly became very difficult to turn, so difficult that I actually bent the little metal handle trying to turn it. Have no idea why it suddenly quit working. Can't see anything visiually wrong with it though. Perhaps the gear is stripped? Really have no idea and I am usually pretty good at figuring what went wrong with something mechanically.

This beautiful looking can opener came with high expectations. It barely lasted 6 months and began failing little by little (didn't quite get the whole can rim detached) and then failed almost completely (now it barely opens the rim at all), and I missed the Amazon 1yr returns policy. I have written to the company to see what they will do about it. It was so expensive (I paid $29.95 in Dec. 2014) and it appears that it was a complete waste of money!I do hope the company will refund me at least since it appears it is no longer in stock. I am not sure if the one I got was defective or if it is a design problem but at this point I don't trust the product.

This cutter obviously attaches on the side. It removes the top leaving a relatively smooth edge. The cut lid can fall into the can.I purchased this cutter to replace an Oxo cutter that attaches parallel to the top. The Oxo very smoothly removes the entire lid including the rim which then allows the lid to be used as a temporary cover for the can. About the "arthritis" claim--that is a subjective claim and I could not tell a difference.

For the first couple of weeks, it seemed like the can opener would be just fine. But soon after that it started to slip off the can as I was opening it. Then it stopped working in the clockwise direction, would only work counter-clockwise (and still it would off slip off the can). Finally it just stopped working. The connection between the "crank" and the geared "wheel" that contacts the can became loose, and the crank just spins.Just ordered an OXO to replace this lousy can opener. Thought I would save a few bucks and still get good quality, but NO SIRRREEE!
