These seeds don't appear to be the variety promised
I purchased Japanese Black Trifele seeds from this seller, along with two other seed varieties (Floradade Tomato and Jalapeno Pepper). Germination was slow and mediocre from all three varieties. I started 8 other tomato varieties and 4 other pepper varieties from seed obtained from other sources and had near-100% germination from all of them. Once established, however, the plants have been healthy and grown normally. The plants are now 6 weeks old, and it appears that the "Japanese Black Trifele" seedlings are not, in fact, Japanese Black Trifele. This is a potato leaf variety, as stated in the description of this item (and confirmed by other websites and experienced gardeners), but the leaves on my seedlings are regular tomato leaves. You can see the same problem in the user-submitted photos, so obviously this is a simple case of mislabeling the one packet I received. Nor is this an issue of mixing up the labels on my plants, as none of my seedlings have potato leaves. It's too early to tell whether my other two seed packets contained the correct seed. I was aware that I might be sacrificing quality for price when I made this purchase and knew there was a risk that this might happen. In the future, if my budget will allow, I will stick to reputable dealers so that I can be sure to invest my time and energy into the plants I really want.

Organic Japanese Black Trifele Tomato
Can not say much about these seeds as they were given to an avid gardener for a birthday present and I have no ideaif they produced or if they tasted good. Hope you have great success and find these very tasty if you grow them.

Delighted.
Extraordinary germination. I think nearly every seed popped.I would have saved some if I would have know just how great the germination was going to be. I haven't transplanted yet, will update as we get further into the season, but if the germination rate is any indication, I will have some glorious tomatoes come summer. If you're looking to get started, I'd say "jump in," worth the adventure!Delighted.Update: 7/17/2015: Plants have matured and are full of buds. Really beautiful to watch, far exceeded my expectations. Will update on fruit when it comes in.Update 7/28/2015: Amazing amount of fruit has bloomed. Rows and rows of blooms become fruit. Not yet ripened, but extraordinary amounts.

low disease resistance!
Unfortunately, my entire crop of these tomatoes succumb to some kind of leaf destroying fungus and the fruit never fully ripened. There are several types of tomato disease prevalent in my area and despite proper care and good garden maintenance on my part, I was unable to keep these healthy (also, I refuse to use chemicals such as fungicide on my garden). After some research to find what went wrong, I discovered that this particular variety of tomato is susceptible to almost every type of tomato pathogen. That being said, the seeds sprouted quickly with a high germination rate. The plants were healthy and grew vigorously for the first portion of their lives, and they produced quite a lot of (unripe) tomatoes. It appears there is a trade off - low disease resistance, but good flavor (according to other growers). I do not, however, blame the seller or the seed company for my unwise choice of variety.Bottom line: do your research, and learn about the plant pathogens that are common in your area. Then carefully choose a variety that is resistant to most of those diseases.

good company to do business with
I bought 8 or 9 different kinds of seeds from Hirts Gardens here on Amazon, including these Japanese Tomato seeds. I was a little apprehensive at first about buying seeds online - I thought they might be old and would not sprout or grow well. But these sprouted the NEXT DAY and in just 2 weeks, I have tomato plants that are 4 inches high with FIVE sets of leaves!! WOW!! This is so KOOL! (I'm using an AeroGarden). At first I thought it was a little weird that they "count" the number of seeds you get??? But then when I got them, I realized I would never plant 100 or 200 of anything, so why should I pay for all those seeds?? I got more than enough seeds for what I wanted at an unbelievably great price!

a total waste of money and time.
First of all, We received the seeds late - too late for the season.Second There were no instructions for us to plant them or the language was in Chinese on all seeds I ordered and received.I could not tell what pack I was planting most of the time - since the package had a different name or was in Chinese.Regardless - None of the seeds grew. NONEThis was all a total waste of money and time.

Quality seeds
The first three tomatoes came up in three days. The other 7 that I planted came up a month later. I only planted half of the seeds because winter is comming and I want to see how well they will grow in my greenhouse. The other half I'll plant in spring if these first 10 don't make it or if I want more. I recomend these seeds they young plants are healthy and they all started quite well. I think that the 7 other seeds took so long to start because I removed the bag I had covering the pot once the first seeds started and the rest waited for an 80 degree day in October before they were willing to show their green faces.

Very impressed on the packaging
9GreenBox sure takes pride and consideration on their packaging. I'm always looking for different tomatoes and hot peppers to grow. Sure makes the family and friends visit to see what's new and good to try. I've taken to growing my veggies in the flower beds around the house. Neighbors stop and always ask what type of flowers they are. I've also noticed healthier plants and the fruits they produce when grown in the flower beds with different kinds of flowers. Looking forward to trying these beautiful tomatoes and hoping for new experiences with the different types. Also you get your invoice and a well written leaflet on seed handling, growing and options to think of.
