A good standard reed which I have used for a number of years on the alto sax. Soprano reeds seem less durable than those for the larger sax's and so I now tend to use Rico plasticover reeds instead as they definitely last longer and in my opinion are worth the extra expense. The sound they give is brighter and perhaps slightly more shrill than with conventional reeds but for general practice they are fine. Worth a try if you find you are using a lot of these reeds.

These green box reeds did not perform well for me. However, the red box reeds did very well. If you've never tried Vandoren reeds before, try their variety pack. The variety pack has one of each of their reeds to help you find which works for you. I had great success with the red box Java reeds though.

I use 3 pieces so far, one had a broken tip, unusable, one corner of the tip seems bent, won’t last long, the other one is good, I like the sound on my soprano saxophone. That’s why still give 4 stars.

The one reed I've tried from the box worked quite well right out of the package. Unfortunately I needed the reed right away and was unable to give it my usual break in procedure so it only lasted the one gig before it lost its resiliency. I was very pleased, however, how well it played on my mouthpiece and sounded through my horn.
