Awesome kettle
Had a fancy Fellow electric kettle before this which I accidentally fried, but this kettle is so much better!!! It’s slimmer, pours so much faster, shuts off on its own, has a cleaner base, leaks less, is aesthetically more pleasing, and is way more affordable. The cork is a nice design touch. There is no plastic anywhere on the interior, which is essential. Thrilled!

Quick heating, durable and trendy look.
I use it almost daily with my French press and it works like a charm. Quick heating capabilities, easy flip on/off and stylish look. Great addition to my morning routine.

The Best Cheap Gooseneck You'll Find
I purchased this kettle to use primarily as a "gets the job done" kettle for my office coffee setup. I am serious about my coffee and have used more premium kettles such as the Hario gooseneck and the Fellow Stagg EKG. The Fellow is my go-to at home, but I didn't want to spend $150 again, so I purchased this Bodum kettle. My review of this product is at least somewhat informed by comparing its performance to more expensive products like the Fellow Stagg EKG. First, I want to address the leaking/steam valve issue that many other reviewers have complained of. In some photos I saw of this product before purchasing it, there was a plastic cap on the steam valve, but there was no plastic cap on mine. Bodum seems to have updated that part to a metal thingy that is, I hope, a lot more literal-fool-proof than whatever plastic piece they were using before. I took some pictures and added them to this review. To clarify: this kettle does not leak if you do not overfill it. If you fill it up to the fill line like a sane person, you will have a problem-free water boiling experience. Its design is in no way defective, and I have been using it several times per day for a few weeks now with absolutely zero leaking issues. It would probably leak if I filled it way past the line, but any kettle-- including the Stagg and other pricier options, as I've witnessed firsthand-- will leak through the lid holes if overfilled. Pour rate and quality: Before getting to the Bodum, I want to mention the speed of the pour for the other kettles I've owned. The Fellow Stagg EKG pours at a rate that I can only describe as glacially slow-- water comes out of it in a very slow and controlled drip, which is nice for pour-over coffee but feels ridiculous when pouring a lot of water at once, such as for French press or tea. On the other hand, my Hario kettle pours much faster, but it still allows for some control. So, if those are the ends of the spectrum, then this kettle from Bodum kettle pours quickly, at a rate that is most like the Hario and is honestly more pleasurable to use than the Stagg. For pour-over coffee, I suspect the Bodum's more aggressive flow gitated the coffee bed more, but the stream doesn't feel as delicate or controlled as the Stagg. The water stream produced by the Bodum is steady and does not break up or dribble, even when pouring from a height of several inches. Really, by all objective measures such as this, the Bodum's performance rivals that of any higher-end offerings. When filled to capacity with room temperature water, it boils in about 5 and a half minutes. Really, my only qualms with this kettle are with the cork on the lid and handle. They feel expectedly flimsy, but as other reviewers have said, I'm optimistic that they could be replaced with a drawer knob or something when-- definitely when, not if-- they break. When I'm buying in this price range, it's definitely not something I can really fault Bodum for. This kettle also does feel a bit wobbly on the base, but only in the way of a table with a slightly short leg. The base is plastic and feels sort of cheap, because it is. Does that matter? Again, in this price range, I don't think it does. In all the ways that count, this kettle functions identically to higher-end, pricier kettles. It's annoying to clean and has flimsy handles. The cord is short. It doesn't heat up with turbo speed or hold a ton of water. But so what? For less than $30, nothing will give you a good and controlled pour, a quick boil, and neat design. UPDATE (April 2023): I've had this kettle for over a year now, and I'm still immensely pleased with it. The cork on the lid and handle is still holding up well-- honestly, it's still like new-- after daily use. It hasn't started to rust on the inside or anything. It's still in perfect shape; I'm honestly impressed. I have experienced the issue where water leaks out of the bottom a handful of times, but I think I've discovered what causes this: the mechanism that automatically turns off the kettle once it starts to boil is seemingly triggered by steam, and if I attempt to turn it back on to maintain boiling or if I reheat more water a few times in a row, the steam causes enough condensation buildup around the switch that some of the droplets come out. I don't think this is "leaking" at all; if anything, this is really my fault for trying to push the kettle beyond the scope of what the manufacturer intended. UPDATE 2 (October 2025): This kettle has been my go-to at home for more than two years now. It gets used at least once per day, if not more. It is still working flawlessly, and the cork on the lid and handle are still even attached.

A terrific kettle at a great price
I love this kettle, and IMHO it is by far the best thing at this price point, and also better than some considerably more expensive models. I actually bought another, more expensive one that had temp control to compare the two, and I ended up sending the other one back. This little gem looks better, heats up just as quickly, and my blind tasting of coffee brewed at the two different temps (ie. boiling for this one, and 203 for the other one) yielded no difference whatsoever. It's simple, petite, and holds enough water to make coffee for two, or possibly three if you're doing smaller cups. Although I was initially enticed by features that veri-temp models offer (like holding the temperature, etc), I realized that in reality I don't actually need any of those. I mean really, why do I want to keep my water at a certain temperature for an extended period of time when it takes only moments to reheat anyway? Also I really like the simplicity and elegance of the aesthetic. The only thing I'd love more is if it came in some fun colors.

Two years then the leaking started
I’ve had mine for two years of daily use. Love its looks and it heats water quickly. My unit did just start to leak from the bottom like others have mentioned. I like the Bodum brand, so I’m a bit disappointed that I only got two good years of use. Looking for a new kettle now. Preferably one whose reviews don’t mention leaking.

This is the second one we bought....
We got one as a gift for someone last year. We went to their house and they made us tea. This kettle heats water so fast and pours amazingly well. It's so cute, and doesn't take up room on the stove. Very easy to use. PROS: Excellent pour, heats up really fast, easy to use, very easy to clean, very pretty statement piece. CONS: there is no SOUND to indicate your tea water is ready. The on tab just "clicks" off. Also the light is not on the tab its located around the side, which is a little confusing as you can't tell right away it's on/off, started/done. On a redesign I would change it to have a little bell indicator or something and ensure the light is where you would expect it to be. Overall it's great, a good price, and gorgeous, works well.

Second Updated Review after less than a year of use. Not Happy! >: (
My Mom has this electric water kettle in black and I was very impressed with it so I decided to get one for my kitchen. I got mine in chrome. It heats up water super quick so no need to use the stove top or microwave to heat up water for my hot chocolate/tea. It's very well designed and looks great on the counter. The only "criticism" I have is that the electric cord is kind of thick and stiff, but I suppose that is for safety reasons. There is a MAX line inside the kettle so don't fill water beyond that. If you need more water, just heat up some more. It really doesn't take that long. I read a couple reviews about concerns with the cork details but so far I have not had any issues with it. UPDATED REVIEW - November 20, 2024 I have owned this electric kettle for less than a year and already it is broken. VERY, VERY disappointed since I really loved its ease of use. I don't use this kettle a lot since it's mostly for heating up water for hot chocolate in the colder months. Well, I just started using it consistently again and the little pop-up button no longer pops up to stop the water from boiling. I thought it was just a fluke so the next day I used it again and the same thing happened. The water continues to boil since the button does not pop up. Grrr! And to top things off, now the kettle is leaking water from the bottom! (And no, I did not overfill the kettle). This kettle has gone from a great product to a huge disappointment and a potential safety hazard. I am way past the return window so the money I spend on this kettle is now down the drain. I am going to see if I can contact the seller but I am not holding out any hope. I have changed my star rating to 2 Stars. If I can contact the seller and get a satisfactory solution, I will change my star rating. For now I am a VERY upset and disappointed customer!! SECOND UPDATED REVIEW - November 22, 2024 I was unable to contact Bodum on my own since there was not a "Contact Seller" option on the Amazon product description. I decided to chat with an Amazon Cust Service rep. I explained the problem with the kettle hoping for a replacement. The rep gave me the phone # and website for Bodum to get help with the kettle replacement since it is still under warranty. I called Bodum but no one was answering the phone, so I emailed them a detailed description of the kettle's malfunction. I NEVER heard back from Bodum. Not even an acknowledgement that they received my email. Today, I decided to contact Amazon Cust Service again to see if they could reach out to Bodum on my behalf. The first rep did not offer to do that for me. He transferred me to another dept. The next two reps that I chatted with abruptly left the chat due to "technical difficulties." The fourth and last rep I chatted with finally offered to issue me a refund/return. I really just wanted a replacement kettle but that was not an option. The rep sent me an email with the UPS QR code that stated the amount of my refund. Only after I gave the kettle to UPS to send back to Amazon, did I receive another email stating that there would be an $8 restock fee!!!!!! This was not mentioned to me by the Amazon Rep!!! My question is, why am I being charged a restock fee for an item that is clearly damaged and will not be restocked??? It is going into the landfill. I am very disappointed in Amazon for not making this fee clear, and thus reducing my refund amount. I have changed my star review from 5 stars to 1 star. Very disappointed in Bodum, and now Amazon Customer Service for not disclosing the restock fee.

Fast and reliable
First used this kettle at a airbnb. Was sold on how easy it was to use and it was fast. Returned home from trip and ordered on immediately. Having been using is daily since (Aug 2025). Works wonderfully.
