Simply said…
You can’t have a baby or toddle and NOT have a collection of Eric Charles board books (made non-toxic, by the way, so your tiny literary critic can chew on his thoughts after hearing the story each time…You also MUST have the full sized “The Very Quiet Cricket.” Actually, you need several copies. One board book, and maybe 2 full-sized. Nobody EVER gets tired of THAT on!!

Just like I remembered when I was little!
This author is amazing and I love every single book she has. His pictures are so great and so different than your typical picture book. Reading this as an adult still need me just as happy as reading it when I was little. I will definitely get this book for my children.

She Loves Spiders!
I bought this book on recommendation from a friend, and around that same time my 18 month old daughter learned "Itsy Bitsy Spider" which is now her favorite song/rhyme. She has us sing it to her (complete with hand motions) about 10 times a day. Now she loves this book and The Itsy Bitsy Spider they are two of her favorite books. She brings them to me saying "Pie-durr bouht!" (Spider book) "peashj wedit!" (please read it). We love reading them before naps and bedtime since both stories end with the spiders going to sleep. This books is really well written and illustrated. I think a lot of children's "authors" and publishing houses are very lazy about content and illustrations, thinking a cartoon of a cow which says moo moo next to it is educational enough. This is a story about several things. #1. A spider who is so busy building her web that she has no time to talk to anyone. #2. Its a story about hard work paying off, and eventually getting a lovely rest at the end of a long day. #3. It teaches young children animal sounds, as well as animal behaviors. We learn that cats like to nap, goats like to climb, and that spiders build webs to catch flies in among other things. The repetition of simple phrases helps the child relax because its soothing, and when they get older and learn the story you can say, "But the spider didn't answer because..." and then the child can answer, "she was so busy building her web." And also ask the child to tell you the different animals sounds and things like that. The illustrations are textured, you can feel the fly and web on each page. That's pretty cool as an added little thing that a child may enjoy. My daughter doesn't really care all that much but other kids might tracing the lines of the web, and looking for the fly on each page like a Where's Waldo.

Beautiful book. Fell apart quickly
The book is fantastic. The fly, spider and silky thread have texture so a happy tactile surprise. Illustrations beautiful and a whole collection of friendly animals to enchant small and big humans alike...BUT - the book has no structural integrity and promptly fell apart in my toddler's hands. She hasn't destroyed any of her other board books, some of which have been entertaining her for over a year, but this one was quite "crunchy" and pages began separating almost immediately. The whole book is now one mess of fixing-tape, and still not sturdy enough. SHAME!!

Lovely book with farm animals
The book in itself its a lovely story of a spider building her web and being asked questions by different farm animals but she is too busy spinning her web!My little one loves this book, it's helping him recognise the farm animals and now can do the sounds to a few of them! The Web is slightly embossed so it's a good touchy feely book tooThe only downside is that I got this second hand wish I paid that bit extra and got it brand new

All Time Classic
My daughter is 1 and she loves to trace her finger over the spider's web. It keeps her attention during story time and it's a great book to learn the names of animals and the sounds they make. Great book to have in your child's library!

Well i never knew this existed!
I have to say what a pleasent surprise it was to find this book. I searched for the hungry caterpillar book, obviously a classic, to find this one come up in the recommendations. I honestly had o idea there was a series of these books. Its lovely, a simple story but beautiful illustrations and although bought for a friend, there little girl has really enjoyed it. Will certainly be purchasing one for my kids. With it being hard back its resiliant, especially, if like my kids, everything goes straight in the mouth (we have the hungry caterpillar in this format). Would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the hungry caterpillar as a kids, or has kids that love it......think theres a lazy ladybird one too.......exciting!
