It worked well for me.
I never tried this before and it worked well for me. You need a soldering tool with a teflon tip to correctly apply it to the LCD. I used one like this: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00AN8ZSOWI cleaned the glass on the LCD with an alcohol swab until all of the old glue and old tracks were gone. I was afraid I had removed something I needed when the tracks started disappearing with the glue, but they were from the old ribbon cable. Once clean, the tracks you need are fairly faint on the LCD. Use good lighting and you can see them better. I removed the backing from the ribbon cable and lined it up. Once I had it aligned I manually pressed it into place moving my fingernail across it back and forth. Once it was in place I used the soldering tool. I had the soldering tool heating up for about 15 minutes before I used it so it was definitely hot. I held the soldering tool on the ribbon cable with moderate pressure for about 30 seconds. I did this a couple of times moving the tool so I was sure to cover the whole cable and it seemed to work fine.

It works.
It works. I purchased a 60watt soldering iron with this which I found to be too hot. Dont be afraid to do this yourself. I think it is very easy to do. Dont spend hundreds getting yours replaced by some shop. they are making money off of you.Just a note. Make sure you pay attention to the contact points when you remove the old one, ensuring you know where to align the new one. You are soldering the new one to a glass surface with some electrical contact so it will be hard to know where things align if you dont pay attention when removing the old one. Also, make sure you clean off the old one completely to have a nice contact surface for the new one. I used your generic rubbing alcohol and q-tip to remove and clean. It took 5-10min to take all the residue off, but itll come out.
