Not Well Designed
The product does what it is meant to do, so no fault on that. This review could be a reflection on me, but here it goes. I bought this product with the purpose of detecting natural gas. I know natural gas rises, even in the packaging the directions state to hang near the ceiling for best results. Here is where the poor review comes from....They do not include a power chord that would reach from an outlet to the ceiling. In fact there is no power chord at all. It is just a device that plugs directly into an outlet. So that's on me for not reading the details of what's included in the box. Now if I want to hang it near the ceiling I'll have to use an extension chord and that will look pretty silly. Aside from the looks, there is also no way to hang the device. No hole punch for a screw, no mounts of any kind. How can you tell me to hang the detector near the ceiling but provide no tools to do so? If it were designed better they would have used a skinny USB C cable as a power source and have it connect at the bottom of the device, rather than 2 prongs out the back. Also drill a hole in the back so I can hang it on a screw, or just any kind of mounting capability. I don't know of any home or apartment that has outlets 1 foot from the ceiling. It's like you just sold me a wheel with no hub. Sure it's a wheel and it rolls, but I can't attach it to anything.

Reads Incorrectly
So this had decent reviews and based on that decided to purchase. I was in the market for a natrual gas monitor so it looked to fit the bill. Plugged it in and it reads "1" at all times. Wasn't sure if that was the norm so called my local gas company to come out and check if I had a leak. They turned off the gas and still read "1" lol. Once it even spiked to "3" and start beeping which caused some panic to say the least. Not sure if I happened to get a defective unit or not but it's definitely not working as it should....Update 6/25/19 - Seller reached out to me to offer a new unit after reading my review. New unit received and works as it should with no concerns. Thanks again !

You're not fully protected with smoke detectors and CO detectors. Get this.
A friend of mine nearly died at work the other day because of a gas leak. His wife drove to his workplace to find his head down on a desk taking a "nap". It was a simple natural gas leak. Very dangerous. I though I was protecting my family with smoke detectors and even the optional carbon monoxide detector I purchased. However, as it turns out...these do NOT detect gas leaks. We use propane in our house with a 1,000 gallon tank buried below ground in our front yard. Tip: read the installation instructions. Install this detector in a higher location if you have natural gas. Propane however sinks. Install it in a lower location to detect propane leaks as early as possible. I bought two of these and tested them both by using a Bic lighter, extinguishing the flame, and keeping the button on the lighter pressed down to emit gas...both units had no problem detecting the gas and sounding an alarm. For $17 and change, buy this item because the potential "award" for an early warning signal far, far outweighs the cost of this item.Edit: I was spray painting a plastic model in the kitchen this morning and this thing went to "3" and started beeping in the living room. Glad to see it's ever vigilant and sniffing for gas. Works great!

Works Great!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Pretty simple to install and works great! See my video review. Gas detectors should be mandatory in all homes.

It does it’s job!
This gas detector definitely works! One morning it had started to flash so I immediately called the gas company. They ended up finding a leak under my stove that they were able to fix right away. If it wasn’t for the detector I would have been in hreat danger. I had to recommend it to all of my friends. It’s so easy to use, all you have to do is plug it in, and it helpsmto keep you safe. This is a good product for everyone.

Detected a small leak
I had my water heater changed out and kept feeling like i could smell a faint gas odor. Everyone thought i was paranoid. I bought one of these and the reading kept fluctuating from 0-2. Alarm sounds at 3. In fact we held a lighter to it and it did start going off. My husband still thought i was paranoid. I called the gas company for peace of mind and yes i have a small leak from the shut off valve! Everyone needs one of these! Carbon detectors don’t test natural gas leaks! I didn’t give 5 stars because i just bought it.

Didnt work like I hoped
I tested this with an extinguished lighter after it zeroed out and it worked fine with that. Well just recently I had this in my motorhome and forgot to shut off my propane one day (I shut it off when not in use as I have a tiny propane leak) and came back later and could smell propane very clearly in my motorhome and it wasnt registering anything other than 0. Didnt have any fans going, and the air was stagnant. Thank goodness this didnt happen when I went to bed or I wouldnt be alive today. I dont know if mine just isnt very effective or what, but it scared me that it wasnt going off at all. I bought this because it has a lot of positive reviews, but hopefully the company sees this and resolves it even though i discovered this after 30 days of purchase.

Detects air quality NOT a gas leak
If you ever use anything scented (cleaner, candle, room spray, etc) or ever bake anything this is NOT the alarm you want. It will go off saying you have a gas leak as you're baking cookies and you will rush your whole family out of the house. Spoiler alert: there was no leak. It also likes to go off when we've used Method Wood Floor Cleaner because it's scented and the scent sticks in the air. This gives a false sense of security that it's actually going to detect a leak. Maybe it would actually detect a leak or maybe it's just a pie baking in the oven....
