The Machinist Keyboard

OK. So yes it's pricey for a keyboard. But if you're looking for a splurge gift this is well worth it. I'd been looking at Datamancer keyboards for a while and finally decided to treat myself for Christmas. You're getting a custom made product so expect some delay between order and shipping. I ordered in mid-November and product shipped in mid-December which was right in line with my expectations. Packaging was great. Wood burning on the box was a nice touch. The keyboard has a typewriter feel to it, which is to be expected. Overall, first day using it and very happy.

Can only blame myself, it says clearly in the description: distressed aluminium. Unfortunately, said aluminium committed suicide shortly after reception of the product, which I thought was absurd until it really happened.Additionally, you don't get to market a product like this and write that "the gritty black faceplate emphasizes an era more focused on production than aesthetics" - first because it makes no sense on a couple of different levels, and second because buying a 750$ keyboard rather emphasizes that you DEFINITELY care more about aesthetics than any practical purpose. You buy this to be cool and fancy, that's the only reason and it certainly is that.
