Negative reviews are not quite warranted.... (Edit: or, perhaps they are)
I've been using these compatible toners for a while--I do quite a bit of printing, so I've gone through three complete sets (and an extra black toner or two) so far, mostly without problems. You will occasionally get stray marks, streaks, etc, but not too much--I think that's par for the course, esp. given the price which is just a fraction of the OEM cartridge. One of the reasons at least one reviewer is complaining about has nothing to do with the cartridges, but the tricky design of the printer itself that makes installing the new cartridge somewhat headachy. Basically, if the cartridge is not set just right on the rotary unit, the printer will stop working with a loud creaking noise that's totally startling. This will happen, if the cartridge is even slightly misplaced, whether you are using an OEM or a generic. In my case, this took place when I was using an OEM cartridge and K-M customer service was able to talk me through resolving it over the phone. The only "serious" problem that I've had was one black cartridge (that was sitting in storage for half a year) that didn't work out of the box (this morning, in fact.) I just contacted the seller and we'll see if they honor the 1 year guarantee that supposedly come with this product.EDIT: Hmm, it seems that I'll have to downgrade the rating. Just ran into two more defective cartridges. It looks like, based on the barcodes on the toners themselves, that the toners that this seller used to sell and the toners they are selling now are actually different items and that the newer cartridges might not be as reliable as the old ones--among the older cartridges, I've had no problem whatsoever, with the newer ones, I've had installation problems with 3 out of 4. I keep getting "toner not installed" error, I'm guessing that this means the printer is not recognizing the installed cartridge. :/ One other reviewer noted that after his problems, he got chips sent over from the seller that made these toners work. Could that be the reason? Still in communication with the seller. Let's see how this goes....EDIT #2: Still trying to work things out with the seller. I can say with certainty that the toners that I got from them last December/January are more bad than good. I did just buy another bundle just a couple of weeks ago (yeah, call me glutton for punishment) and this bundle actually seems decent enough--although we'll have to see how they pan out just yet.Edit #3: The cartridges the seller (DuraEco, btw) is selling currently (the set I bought a couple of weeks ago) actually seems to be of superior quality than those from 1/2 year ago. Could it be that they were able to improve the quality of their product in the past half a year. Will have to test them out again once the current batch runs out.... (yes, more on that glutton for punishment business)Edit #4: I am not sure if the product listed now is the same as the one that I had bought: different vendors sell different toners, and their qualities vary. In my case, I had gotten different toners from the same vendor, via amazon.com, with drastically different qualities. One set (more expensive) was about as good as OEM. Another set (actually a couple) turned out to be nearly useless. There should be some means of telling apart different replacement toners on amazon.com site.

Works, inspect before using
Good for the kids. I had one issue with the gear breaking on one end of the magenta cartridge which caused an issue. Recommend doing a complete inspection before using. If I had done this I would have noticed the excessive play on that gear. Turns out the little retaining clip for the gear had broken which allowed the gear to back out and not engage. I was able to replace the gear with one from an empty cartridge.

Very Good Price but Slightly lacking in Quality
These compatible cartridges are outwardly identical to the OEM units, which is impressive. However, the yellow cartridge leaks powder all over the inside of my printer. This residue is annoying, and requires periodic cleanup with a shop vacuum. The other cartridges function fine.Because of such grief and agony encountered the last few times I had to return or exchange defective items, I will just live with this powdery residue for a while. If it gets worse, then I will go through the trouble of requesting an exchange.

It's only a good deal if it works
The three color cartridges worked fine, but the black cartridge was covered with loose toner when it arrived. It billowed out in a cloud, covering me, the printer, the desk and the floor. It was a huge nuisance to clean up. Once the cartridge was installed, the low ink light came on immediately. When I tried to print with the cartridge, it randomly left huge smears across the page. Sometimes I had to print a page half a dozen times to get a usable copy. I finally gave up and ordered a different cartridge.

Four Stars
One cartage was bad. Did not work. The rest worked fine. At this price I still saved on three.

Destroyed my printer
I bought these "compatible" cartridges on Amazon the same day I bought my Konica Minolta multifunction printer. The sample cartridges supplied with the printer got used up so I started to put these "compatible" cartrdiges in the printer. I got as far as putting one in and closed the printer - clanking noise as the printer started to rotate the cartridges then a message about a Machine malfunction - contact manufacturer for service - or something like that. Absolutely no way to persuade the machine to release the cartridge (unlike the brother color laser you dont have 4 separate slots each of which is accessible - you just have one accessible slot and the printer has to rotate them - this doesn't happen if the machine chokes on a "compatible" cartridge). So where does this leave me - it leaves me with a voided warranty and a printer that is probably not paying to fix if I cannot fix it under warranty. It also leaves me with 3 useless cartridges plus one stuck in the machine with the voided warranty.FWIW I have owned several laser printers and this is actually the third color laser that I have purchased. I've never broken one before.

bad chip in black ink cartridge-FIXED
I purchased this product in January anticipating running out of black toner. that didn't happen til march. When I tried to install the toner, the printer didn't read the toner chip. After contacting Konica Minolta, I was told that the problem was a mis-programmed chip. Having tried to return the item through Amazon, I was told that the return time had expired, so I guess I'm out $100. I haven't contacted the seller yet, so maybe I can still get some satisfaction.UPDATE 05/06/2012 I HAD TO CHANGE the original rating for this product. After contacting amazon, I was able to contact the seller, and they were very quick to respond. They sent new chips through the mail and when they arrived, I installed them. The chips worked fine. The ink seems to be the same quality of the original as far as I could tell.
