The Heritage Highlighting the pinnacle of Iznik pottery. Rumi-Hatayi blue-and-white ware originates from the end of the 15th century. The use of blue-and-white porcelain in the Ottoman empire started back in the 14th century when Chinese ambassadors brought these in as gifts to strengthen the relationship with the Ottomans. Artisans of the now Northwestern Turkish town Iznik soon started to copy these vases and developed their own style of ceramic art that is still renowned today by design aficionados and collectors. Iznik glassware encompasses the unique mix of the Ottoman arabesque ‘Rumi’ style combined with the ancient Chinese floral ‘Hatayi’ style. The Bowl 500 years of Ottoman history and craftsmanship in a bowl. This bowl is inspired by 16th century Iznik artisans that combined Arabesque motifs with Chinese influences from the Yuan and Ming dynasties. Every bowl is 100% handmade and decorated in Turkey.
