Prayer flags, designed to shed to their strands to the wind are a gentle way of spreading a kindness. When they're made from natural inks and fibers, that is. The set that I received is clearly labeled "100% Cotton", but as it didn't feel like cotton, I separated a loose strand from one of the flags and held it close to a flame, whereupon it melted. Cotton burns, plastic melts. Further examination under a 100x microscope positively showed it to be artificial fiber.I had searched a lot to find, --and paid a premium price-- for cotton, as I don't wish to be sending slivers of nasty matter to the winds, and I expect that others choosing this product are of like mind. Sad to say, the search isn't over: it certainly doesn't end here.This retailer may have been duped by their supplier, but given how much emphasis they place on the product's cotton content, they should have verified it.At this point, if they are at all honest, they'll test each of the styles they sell -- and immediately remove all false advertising. I suppose it's too much to ask that they notify and reimburse previously mislead customers, but it seems like that would be the right thing to do.If anyone has a line on true cotton prayer flags, please let me know. Thanks.
