One feature I'd like to see... now two features!
This is about as simple as you can get... set it and forget it, which is exactly why I needed an automatic garage door closer in the first place! The one feature that I'd love to have, though, is a button on the sending unit to temporarily reset the timer so I don't have to scramble all the way back to the inside door where the receiver is located if I'm working in the garage and it starts beeping warning to close in 1 minute. It only has settings of 5 minutes, 15 minutes, and 6 hours also. We tried 15 minute setting at first, but that was long enough that after we got home and went inside and settled down, our dog would get all excited about "someone's in the garage to visit!" when he heard the door close. So we had to go back to the 5 minute setting.Update after 3 months of ownership:Now, after 3 full months with this product, I have a complaint... the single AA battery in each unit doesn't last very long! I've had to replace the batteries twice now in 3 months. The main unit has a "low battery" light, but it's not clear if the light comes on because of low battery in that box, or in the remote sending unit, which also has a single AA battery. And changing the battery is a royal pain because to get to the battery you have to take it off of the wall (unscrew two screws from usually fragile drywall mounting ancors), and then you have to remove two more smaller -- and easier to drop & loose in a garage! -- screws from the back of the unit before you can get to the battery. Would it have added that much to the production cost to make a removable, *front side* battery door ?!Update #2:Reviews actually make a difference here! Based on my review (above), I was contacted by the company and informed that they had made a change to the design to improve the battery life to ~1 year, and they offered to replace my unit with one of the newer models right away. And later this year they are introducing a new case with a front battery door... EXCELLENT! I am very impressed with this company and their response to their customers!I'll report back again a couple months, after I get the updated unit installed and see how the new battery life claims are holding up.

Keep it simple stupid
Thatʻs the philosophy of this device. No fancy bluetooth, wifi, internet of trash to deal with. It wonʻt talk to your smart refrigerator or your smart toilet seat. It wonʻt ask you to update the firmware or your iPhone app. Itʻs not aerodynamic like something Tesla designed. It just does itʻs job and doesnʻt need to brag about it.Installation- Took about 15 minutes. It sits right next to your garage controller. Just follow the video on youtube. It really is very simple. The other half of the unit is imply velcroed or screwed to the garage door itself. It comes with both velcro and screws.- The cable could have been just an inch longer for folks who would prefer to put the unit above the garage controller. How it Works- Just set the desired duration (5 or 15 mins) to wait. When that time approaches it starts beeping. The beeping then increases in speed to let you know door closure is imminent. The beep is not very loud but generally loud enough.- If you are working in the garage and need to temporarily turn it off you just press the DELAY button and it will delay closing the door for about 6 hours or so. Once closed the unit resets itself to your previous preferred delay time. This is extremely convenient because you donʻt have to remember to set the delay back to the original time.- You can also completely turn it off to completely avoid the door closing on you.SummaryA simple very well thought out device that quietly does its job very well.

Great customer service, and I didn't have to send it to China
Update: About six months ago My Magic Closer, after 18 months of reliable service, began to fail. I noticed that the lights had periodically begun flashing in a diagonal pattern, this was occasionally, not all the time. I had not moved the unit or done anything to it. So I replaced the batteries, making sure to do it in the correct order, but the condition continued and the batteries were draining very quickly. This has gone on since last fall and all I have accomplished is using up a lot of batteries. I even tried relocating the garage door sensor to different top areas of the door but it doesn't change things. And YES, each time the batteries were changed in the correct order and with fresh ones. I must therefore conclude something has failed in the unit, and because of that I no longer recommend it. I'll give it two stars only because it was serviceable for 18 months, but I certainly wouldn't buy it again. This works as intended but I'm only giving it three stars because the batteries lasted exactly six weeks. The battery warning light is so tiny it wouldn't be noticed. Replacing the battery in the main unit is a bit of a pain. I'm trying the more expensive lithium batteries to see if they last longer. I also wonder about rechargeables? This isn't a "don't buy" review, just be aware it gobbles batteries.Update: The manufacturer sent me an email about a week ago and said that they had upgraded the product so it was no longer a battery hog. All I had to do was send it to their location, they had it back to me within a week with upgraded hardware. For my trouble, they also sent a very nice eight piece screwdriver set. So I upgraded the review to five stars. Keep supporting these new start up companies, they care about their customers and that is the best way to grow a business.
